There have been so many debates and interviews and columns and profiles and polls, its hard to believe the election for president is still about 11 months away. Recently, celebrity endorsements have been making news, with Oprah Winfrey saying she would campaign for Barack Obama and Barbra Streisand making the not-so-stunning announcement that she was supporting Hillary Clinton...
...the question remains: do these endorsements really translate into votes?...

Do celebrity endorsements matter? Pat Sajak himself endorsed Fred Thompson while Chuck Norris endorsed Huckabee, so I guess we’ll see...

I find myself in an philosophical dilemma: should I trust the word of a celebrity who says that the word of a celebrity is of very little value?

Nobody cares, but it serves the purpose of spinning the day’s news cycle a bit.
That said, I gotta hand it to the Obama campaign how they reacted to Clinton trotting out that 1970’s lounge singer, Babs Streisand.
“Who’s next, The Captain and Tenile?”
Classic put down by Obama.

Celebrity Endorsements: Does Anyone Really Care? (by Pat Sajak)In a word... YES.
The immature, chronologically and mentally.
What is remarkable is the extent to which this subclass of our society both controls the economy and succumbs to advertising.

At least for celebrities, it clearly announces to dinner party guests where loyalties lie. Beyond that, it is meaningless.

Well, sure, the airheaded soccer moms that peruse People Magazine and Soap Opera Digest in the checkout line rely on these wise celebrities. How would they know what to think otherwise?

Any word on who Vanna White is supporting?Vanna endorsed Bob Dole. I don't think anyone has had the heart to tell her he isn't running this year. :-)

Well, I started supporting Thompson before Sajak endorsed him, and I’m not going to stop supporting him just because he gets a celebrity endorsement. The endorsement doesn’t affect me either way.
Conservatives do exist in Hollywood. Thompson and Sajak are two of them. Others include Charlton Heston, Chuck Norris (mentioned in the article), Tom Selleck, Heather Locklear, and Shannen Doherty.
