Fighting words (Kerry's non reponse, response to Rush)

Fighting words

There's nothing Rush Limbaugh relishes more than getting into the middle of a good verbal brawl, and he's found one with Sen. John Kerry's spokesman, David Wade.

It all began when Mr. Limbaugh announced last week on his radio show that the Swift Boat Veterans for President Bush who challenged the Vietnam-era recollections of the Massachusetts Democrat in the 2004 presidential campaign "were right on the money, and nobody has disproven anything they claimed in any of their ads, statements, written commentaries or anything of the sort."

Mr. Wade?

"At first I thought, that's not Rush, that's just the OxyContin talking. Nonetheless, this is a despicable but unsurprising new lie from a man whose closest brush with combat came when customs officials tried to take away his Viagra."

Wow!

"This portly peddler of hate is once again wrong on the facts," Mr. Wade continued.

Ouch!

"Rush Limbaugh's ignorance and determination to divide Americans is just another reminder that you can't spell 'Rush Limbaugh' without the letters L-I-A-R."

Stay tuned, obviously, for round three.

I believe that is a libelous statement. Wade is implying Limbaugh is STILL taking Oxycotin. If he has no proof, his statement should be actionable.

It's 99.99% impossible to convict anyone of libel regarding a "public person", which of coarse RUSH is.

“Hope Rush ignores this pita. He’s just not worth anyone’s time.”

I disagree. When the DEMS come out with lies, we should point them out just as often as they spout them! I hope Rush asks Wade to produce Kerry’s records and invites him on the show to point out what Wade says are lies by the Swiftboat Vets for Truth.

I think that Rush should just say something short and drop it. Like, “When Kerry speaks for himself instead of through a moutnpiece, I might respond.”

This Is Kerry.... Speaking through someone else.

I supported the Swiftboat for Truth team at the time. However, during the 2004 election I never realized how deep in the “Dumbocrat Psyche” the quest for facts would be seared.

A search for the truth becomes “Swiftboating” and every time the Clinton team uses the term they raise in my mind the question “are they telling the truth”?

After all, Kerry had only to sign the frightening FORM 180 to clear his name.

With respect to the attack through a spokesperson, does this not reflect someone who claimed a Purple Heart after being hit by flying rice?

"claimed a Purple Heart after being hit by flying rice?"

Now that is truly funny. Too bad it is so true.

How many Swift Boat vets came out against Kerry? Close to two hundred, right? If there were that many TANG vets who came out against W, there would be absolutely no doubt that they were telling the truth (even if they were lying and it could be proven).

I think Kerry’s must have lost the videotape of his trip to Cambodia, but he returned home with the rest of the tapes of his so-called “heroics”. What was the term for Quegg in the Cain Munity (Bogart version) - “Old Yellowstain” - when he dropped a yellow marker and turned tail rather go in close to the shore!

As long as he got the name of the drug correct, it's part of his public reputation ~ even if he's not using it now.

This sort of thing is usually not actionable.

Now, if he said Rush had kicked Hitlery in the cojones, that would be actionable because, as it turns out, Hitlery has no cojones.

Just last week John F-ing said he was ready to answer swift boat charges point by point. Well let’s rock Jacque. Whatcha got?

Also last week, his divorce papers were made public with embarrassing examples of lurch’s narcissism documented by his first wife. Apparently he made her dress like Jacki O and say icky things about his penis.

I think we should donate to the swift boaters so they can run their adds again. Not for the politics, just for the fun of it.

I disagree.

In this case, Limbaugh’s reputation is currently what it is because he has BEATEN his drug problem.

To assert that he is still addicted could arguably have an adverse material affect on his reputation and his livelihood. Not only that, it could likely be proven that the slur was malicious in it’s intent and is HATE SPEECH along with being libelous.

There are theories that you never really beat any of these addictions because, voila, you have chemical receptors on the surface of your axions and dendrites for them.

Still, you never really get over a "reputation" do you. What was it the cabinet secretary said after he beat the charges in court "Now, where do I go to get back my reputation".

Rush has that problem ~ knows it well ~ understands how and why he lost his hearing too.

The "addiction" was incidental ~ his doctor prescribed the medicine to start with. Still, do you really think Rush wants to waste any of his time squarshing this JFKerrybug?
