I'm guessing that Miriam's ex is one of those rare moderate Muslims we read about. He had the decency to leave her alone to raise her daughter-- a far, far better fate than ending up dead.

She doesn't know how lucky she is. Isn't it funny how women are supposed to be smarter than men, yet they disproportionately end up with dangerous men?

Is a “prayer room” a Muslim thing or a Hindu thing?

I went to an open house this weekend and the realtor (who was Indian) told me the owners (who were Indian as well) didn’t want open house guests in a certain room because it was closed off and served as a “prayer room.”

The furniture was more traditional India than anything that screamed “Islam” but I know that 20% of Indians are Muslim.

I’ve been working for a Turkish dentist for the past 6 months. His 2nd wife was not Muslim. He seems like a non-practicing, “secular” Muslim. Many of our patients are from the local Turkish community. Half the time, I can’t tell they’re Turkish by looking at them. Many of them have fairer complexions with light brown hair and blue or green eyes. They dress normally. Many of them are incredibly good-looking! One thing I CAN say is that these Muslims may inter-marry, but they do NOT convert!

There is quite a numerous contingent of American women trapped in Saudi Arabia who fell for the "Sheik," in college circumstances. Now they cannot leave without their husband's permission, they cannot take their children.

They are driven about by retainers and chaperoned by guards, whom they sometimes are lucky enough to leave behind and visit western compounds. Got to be the saddest women on earth. Occasionally they will try to get themselves and their children smuggled out ... and occasionallty are never heard from again.

I hope any American woman, especially an "educated" (LOL) college woman would know enough to ask young Achmed Q. Muslim if he is married back at home, or betrothed. Most are, having been married quite young, usually to a cousin, of course.

Sookhdeo says that when her husband recently spoke at a major Christian conference, he asked the audience how many of them knew someone who had converted to Islam. Fifty percent of the audience raised a hand-astonishing!

I'd like to know the conference, where it was held, and how many attended the talk. I think this is pure BS.

Miriam had been raised a Christian, but had turned against God when her mother died.

Pretty weak Christian if she thinks God killed her mother as a way "of getting even" for something. People die and it's usually not fair, especially when it's an innocent child. There are thousands of ways the clergy can explain such events, but to blame Christianity for the death is simply stupid.

Christian women convert and marry muslim men for the same reason that young women join cults. They are seriously missing something in their life and think that they will find it in the cult group. Reminds me of the Applewhite group that sought to find God in the tail of a comet.
