DEPRESSING news in the September edition of National Geographic: redheads are becoming rarer and could become extinct - some experts say the last redhead could be born by 2060.
Others say the redhead gene can disappear for a generation or two in a family and reappear...
...the proportion of the world's population with natural red hair is down to 2per cent...
On every level, that's surely a tragedy. Before we let this rare and precious species go, has anyone considered what it might be like to live in a world without redheaded women?
...Groucho Marx once admitted... "I don't know why, but whenever I dream of a nurse, she always has red hair. Red hair makes a man want to recover his health quickly, so that he can get on his feet and the nurse off hers."...
Sheer and entirely justifiable terror typically prevents people from joking about redheads in the way they do about blondes. In fact, there are some redhead jokes, but they read like tributes, oozing with awe.
...What is the difference between dating a redhead and putting your hand into a blender? There is a 50-50 chance the blender isn't on.
...If you love a redhead, set her free. If she follows you everywhere, pitches her tent in your front lawn and puts your new girlfriend in the hospital, she's yours.
In the US, they say a trucker will slow down for a blonde, stop for a brunette and back up 500m for a redhead...
A natural redhead is generously sprinkled with freckles and therefore comes with her own built-in board game, known as join the dots.
Yes, they'll be missed. As Mark Twain put it: "While the rest of the species is descended from apes, redheads are descended from cats."
Prrrr.

I done my part as well.. I am a red head.. and a beautiful daughter who is a red head...it is still alive and well in my family tree as well...
LOL I had no idea that carrottop had abs.
Kim, how frequently do ya CarrotTop and abs appear in the same sentence? (He still creeps me out :p)
LOL I’m not sure I believe their statistics.
Most of my great aunts, grandfather, uncles and cousins are all born with red or light-auburn tresses and it gets either brunette or dark strawberry red/brown as they get older.
My brother has bright red hair, and I have medium auburn with a variation of red in it.
Thanks for the ping Tim.
Hey, maybe I should copyright it! LOL~ I agree, his act is definitely weird, but I bet he has more money than me. :)
no we’re too busy un breeding red heads and blondes. drudge put out a post saying by the year 3000, everyone will be coffee colored, and race will not be a discussion rather tall attractive vs. short uglly.
It’s false advertising. My wife is a beautiful redhead. I knew exactly what I was getting when I saw her for the first time. I didn’t say, wow I wish she would dye that hair blond. I thought, I have finally found her.
If she had dyed her hair, I wouldn’t have given her a secound thought.
BTW, neither of her parents is a redhead. Her dad’s mom was. So it definitely skips generations.
Meaningless without more context. The number of redheads could stay the same, or increase -- it could even double -- and the percentage might still go down.
Why? Well, because the places with the highest birth rates are inhabited by people whose hair color is almost always black.
some experts say the last redhead could be born by 2060.
Unless there's a huge increase in interracial breeding in places where redheads typically occur, there is unlikely to be anything like "redhead extinction" in 50 years. I mean, heck -- even to put it that way marks it as stupid.
Women can't reproduce withtout a little help from the guys...regardless of what liberals want us to believe. LOL!
Roid’s, anyone?
Stop it.
They had a few good laughs at my expense after they figured out who I was related to. LOL!
You didn’t call me, but here’s another redhead checking in!
Tried my best to pass it on, but alas...got two boys—one brownie and a blond. However, there is hope!
Both boys were conceived following Emerald Society dinner dances, and their father was indeed WEARING A KILT. Also, they’ve both claimed to want to marry a girl just like the one that married dear old dad, so....perhaps I’ll get lucky with the grandkids.
Regards,
Yep...he has more moolah than me too!!! Life, Kim, is really unfair...
We won't if they stay loose ;)

You may get lucky with grandkids.
My sister had 3 blond boys.
2 redheaded grand kids..
You never know. I know a couple who are both DARK HAIRED. Both their kids are RED HEADS! It turns out a GREAT Grandfather had RED hair. Granted it appears there are fewer but genes are a funny thing - things pop up when you least expect it.
