September is designated as National Preparedness Month. Following is your daily tip to help make sure you are prepared:
9/1/07 :: Report people‚ activities and things that are out-of-place or out of the ordinary to Metro Transit Police at 202-962-2121 or inform a Metro employee.
9/2/07 :: Do you have a 3-day home preparedness kit? Visit www.ready.gov for more information.
9/3/07 :: Emergency intercoms are located on the either end of Metro rail cars. Use them to report suspicious people, unusual activities or unattended items to the train operator.
9/4/07 :: Have you read the emergency evacuation poster located next to the center doors in a rail car?
9/5/07 :: Please don’t block the doors from closing or letting passengers on and off the train.
9/6/07 :: Familiarize yourself with all the entrances to the rail station that you frequently use in case you ever have to take a different exit.
9/7/07 :: Check out the emergency intercoms on specially marked pylons in rail stations.
9/8/07 :: Emergency exit procedures are listed on windows, ceiling escape hatches and on doors of Metrobuses.
9/9/07 :: See it, Say it. If you see someone leave a package, politely bring it to their attention. If you see an unattended package or witness anything unusual, tell a Metro employee or call 202-962-2121.
9/10/07 :: “Shelter in place” means to remain in your work place or home.
9/11/07 :: Check with your child’s school to determine its plan of action and what you should do it an emergency occurs.
9/12/07 :: If there’s a fire on a Metrobus, the driver is the first person responsible for putting it out. But if the driver is unable to, the fire extinguishers are behind or under the driver’s seat.
9/13/07 :: Don’t run for the bus. That’s when most accidents happen.
9/14/07 :: If you have to cross the street after getting off a bus, wait until the bus has pulled away from the bus stop.
9/15/07 :: Listen for station announcements and follow instructions quickly and calmly during an emergency.
9/16/07 :: If there’s an emergency on Metrorail, consider the bus, or vice versa. If neither is possible, use cabs or walk.
9/17/07 :: Do you have another way to get home if one or more rail stations are closed? Check out our Metrorail Alternate Route Planning Guide
9/18/07 :: Have you signed up for e-alerts? Messages about rail service disruptions and delays are sent to cell phones, computers and other electronic wireless devices. Click here to sign up.
9/19/07 :: Do you have an emergency plan mapped out? A personal preparedness plan can be found here. Fill it out, discuss it with your loved ones and make sure everyone has a copy. Then, carry your plan with you wherever you go.
9/20/07 :: In an emergency, it may be easier to call long distance as local phone lines may become overloaded. Designate an out-of-state friend or family member to be the contact point for your family.
9/21/07 :: Identify a location outside your neighborhood where your family can meet if you can’t return to your home.
9/22/07 :: Keep a local map with you in case you need to walk or take another form of transportation.
9/23/07 :: Make sure people close to you know how to reach you and vice versa.
9/24/07 :: If a train stops, follow the operator’s instructions quickly and calmly.
9/25/07 :: Ask your employer if there is an emergency plan for your workplace and incorporate it into your personal plan.
9/26/07 :: Have you recently reviewed, updated and practice your preparedness plans? A form can be found here.

That’s what I get for speed reading...
I thought the title was US LOSER because that’s what GADAHN IS — A LOSER.
For those that have seen the tape I ask you look again but not at Bin Ladin but the left side of the screen with the lights blinking on and off. I just saw a pretty good quality of the video and the lights caught my attention they are going the whole time he is talking. I am now trying to figure out what the lights represent they are green and orange lights. If anyone can figure out what the object is that is giving off the lights please let me know. They are in round and square boxes in obling like tubes

I am also getting a faint beeping sound in the background has anyone picked up on that?
I have watched the one from Laura Mansfield and the one from Casey in both OBL is just an image on the screen as you approach the 2 minute mark. Both films did the same the background flucuates and undisclosed pictures can be seen going through the backgroung but OBL”s lips stop moving and it is just his audio voice at that point.
The beep is not a steady beep it is more like morese code or something a copule of rapid beeps then a silence then beeps at a slower pace and on and on.

HICKAM AIR FORCE BASE, Hawaii (AFP) - The White House on Saturday denounced two suicide bomb attacks in Algeria and called them a reminder of the threat posed by global extremism.
“We deplore the vicous attacks in Algeria. The attacks are another reminder of the terrorist threat faced by freedom-loving people around the world,” spokesman Scott Stanzel said.
Stanzel spoke after US President George W. Bush stopped at this base on his way to Washington from an Asia Pacific summit in Australia.
Algeria was rocked by its second suicide bomb attack in three days on Saturday when a blast ripped through a naval barracks and killing at least 30 people, for which an Al-Qaeda offshoot later claimed responsibility.
The north African branch of Osama bin Laden’s group claimed responsibility for that attack and Thursday’s apparent assassination attempt on President Abdelaziz Bouteflika in the eastern city of Batna, Al-Jazeera television reported Sunday citing a statement posted on the Internet from the group.

Market analysts from TheStreet.com have dismissed concerns about suspicious trades that seemed to indicate a major terror attack or other catastrophe was around the corner, leading to a stock market crash, but still concede that the transactions outstrip anything seen since last September.
As we reported on Monday, a mystery trader risks losing around $1 billion dollars after placing 245,000 put options on the Dow Jones Eurostoxx 50 index, leading many analysts to speculate that a stock market crash preceded by a new 9/11 style attack could take place within the next month.
