He needs to be pushed out. Republicans nationwide should cut him no slack. He’s hurting the party.

Larry Craig needs to resign now. As the governor of Idaho is a Republican, we lose nothing except for the political baggage that yet another Mark Foley would bring into the 2008 elections.

This sad excuse of pleading guilty when he is supposedly "innocent" isn't flying because we know that someone in his position could have easily hired the best lawyer in the world to defend him against these charges. Had he been found not guilty, there would be no scandal today.

I am about the only person here who thinks that he should stay. I can name 3 democrats off the top my head that were not asked to resign - P. Kennedy driving drunk through the Capitol, that NJ governor who was praised for his gayness and even got on Oprah, and William Jefferson still has 90k in cash in his freezer.

The whole point of this is to drum out yet another Republican from office. At some point there has to be some pushback.

Mr. Craig will now reap what he has sown - for years.

He will find few friends on Capitol Hill. He is an arrogant, self-centered ignoramus.

I met him years ago at a large GOP fundraiser in DC. He has much to be humble about - but you can’t convince Mr. Craig of that.

... was bad enough that Senator Craig tried to hide it from everyone around him, public and private..

BINGO!... That 'little error in judgment' tells it all.

People who are innocent or simply victims of a mistake, people who have nothing to hide, would tell it to his wife, at least. HE DID NOT!

Do politicians really think we, the people, are THAT STUPID??????????

ANSWER: YES they do! :)

The fact that he knows the code speaks volumes. This guy is very sick and needs to be drummed out of the party.

He should resign for his criminal conviction. If he should resign for being a “pervert” then, to quote David Kurtz (in Talking Points Memo)

“Let the purges begin. Presumably, in addition to homosexuals, the GOP must be cleansed of the divorced, adulterers, abortion recipients, gamblers . . . the list goes on. Once you remove all the “sinners” from the Republican Party, the Democrats should hold a decided electoral advantage.”

And yet a former Senate page who served 10 terms as an Arizona congressman and was found naked in a hot tub with 2 16 year old boys walks free.

Another selfish, political SOB who is above himself... and has totally forgotten who put him in office and why he is there. I am sick of them.

Even if what he now says is true, he should still resign for being that stupid. Save the nation a lot of embarrassment and grief.

Next time I get in trouble with the police I’ll just flash my business card and say “What do you think about that?”

Followed by “Can you loosen the cuffs a bit?”

When the other 'encounters' crawl out of the woodwork, then he will have to go, and fast. All day yesterday, I kept asking myself....."What code?".

Must be a gay thing.

Character does matter!

It's a good thing the current Republican Presidential front-runner is a man of unquestional moral character. /s

Who is Craig kidding? Himself? He's a Rancher, tough guy..who should have fought this from the get-go. But NOOOO..he takes the path of the least resistance and admits guilt to make the situation go away?? I don't think so.

He needs to resign ASAP and take in a good movie. "Broke Back Mountain" is one he might enjoy..(just a guess)..

The arrogance of the elected members of the GOP is stunning.

This guy has been doing this crap since 1967 apparently.

Rumors about him,

In 1982,Craig appeared on NBC News to deny rumors about cocaine use and sex with male teenage congressional pages (the next year, the 1983 Congressional page sex scandal broke, but Craig was not implicated).
In October 2006, gay activist blogger Mike Rogers, who has earned a controversial reputation for outing political conservatives, alleged on his blog that Craig was gay. Craig called the claim “completely ridiculous.”

The little toe tapper should dance out of the picture.

In 1964, Presidnt Johnson's chief of staff Walter Jenkins got into trouble for similar behavior.

Yes, I really love how he was regretting “mistakes”, which apparently was only that he didn’t hire a lawyer. Please. We don’t care whether or not you had a lawyer; we care whether you’re scum.

The GOP is a BIG TENT, what is everybody complaining about? Come on people get with it, the GOP is mainstream and middle of the road and everybody I mean everybody is welcome. (partial sarcasm)
