:::FreeRepublic's Threat Matrix:::
Disaster Looms in Pakistan

Decorum was abandoned as accusations ricocheted between the wood-panelled walls of Pakistan's national assembly on Monday night. "Murderers! Murderers of innocent people!" screamed an MP from a religious party, his yellow turban shaking as he wagged a finger towards the government benches.

Five female parliamentarians, their faces concealed behind black and white burkas, slapped the benches with open palms. Another mullah stood up and started shouting. The speaker strained to maintain order.

Others were less captivated by the debate on last month's siege of the Red Mosque, in which more than 100 people died. One man snoozed at his desk. Across the vast hall others started whispered conversations. And high above them Muhammad Ali Jinnah, a dapper man with a pinched, clean-shaven face, looked on impassively from his giant portrait on the wall. Full story...

Islamist group threatens attacks
August 13, 2007

The leader of a Syrian Islamist group claimed in an audiotape aired Sunday that al-Qaeda-inspired militants have left a Palestinian refugee camp in northern Lebanon, and he hinted that they will soon launch attacks.

"Wait for a black day," Abu Jandal al-Dimashqi, the self-declared leader of Tawhid and Jihad in Syria, said in a warning to the Lebanese government. He also said "the martyrdom of our brother Abu Hureira has fanned the flames." Police killed Hureira, the deputy leader of Fatah Islam, in Tripoli near the Nahr el-Bared camp, the government of Lebanese Prime Minister Fuad Saniora announced Aug. 6. Fatah Islam followers in the camp have been battling the Lebanese army since May 20.

The authenticity of the audiotape could not be verified, but it was posted on a website commonly used by Islamic militants.

Top Abu leader wounded (Phillipines)
Tuesday, August 14, 2007

ZAMBOANGA CITY – After recent battlefield setbacks, the military reported yesterday a major breakthrough in its offensive in Mindanao with the wounding of a top Abu Sayyaf leader and the killing of his right-hand man.

Abu Sayyaf leader Umbra Jumdail alias Dr. Abu Pula was trying to retrieve the remains of his right-hand man Edimar Salip in the middle of a gunbattle with soldiers from the 33rd Infantry Battalion in barangay Tambaking, Maimbung, Jolo when wounded. “Dr. Abu Pula fell on several occasions but managed to escape minus his right-hand man,” Col. Antonio Mark Supnet, commander of the 104th Army Brigade, said. Later found in Salip’s possession was a Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) identification card.

The US government is offering a P5-million reward to anyone who can provide information that will lead to the arrest or death of Jumdail. The military said the offensive in Sulu was meant to flush out Abu Sayyaf bandits and rogue members of the MNLF and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) who were involved in the beheading and mutilation of 10 of the 14 soldiers killed in an ambush on July 10 in Basilan.

Efforts to secure Darra Adamkhel: Govt wants talks with Taliban through jirga (Pakistan)
Monday, August 13, 2007

PESHAWAR: The NWFP government has started efforts to hold talks with the Taliban in Darra Adamkhel to take control of the area, sources told Daily Times.

In the wake of the Taliban action against alleged criminals during their “drive against antisocial elements,” the NWFP government has decided to resolve all issues through a jirga. For the purpose, a new committee will be formed with the Taliban’s consent. Leaders from the Darra Adamkhel Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl, including Sheikhul Hadith Maulana Sher Bhadar, Maulana Saeedullah and Jan Mohammad Sadiq, and from the banned Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan have also been trying to convince the Taliban to end their siege of Darra Adamkhel.

A Worthwhile Reminder of the Stakes With Saudi Arabia
Aug 13, 2007

The official Saudi sponsorship of religious intolerance is not unknown, but every once in a while it is good to remember exactly who we are dealing with. This is especially true in the case of Saudi-supported charities and organizations operating in the United States, who portray themselves as the face of tolerant Islam.

My most recent reminder was from the official website of Saudi Airlines, outlining what infidels can take into the country. Tucked away in the Customs Regulations section is this:
A number of items are not allowed to be brought into the Kingdom due to religious reasons and local regulations. These include alcoholic beverages, pork and pork products, prohibited drugs and narcotics, firearms, explosives, edged weapons and pornographic materials.

Items and articles belonging to religions other than Islam are also prohibited. These may include Bibles, crucifixes, statues, carvings, items with religious symbols such as the Star of David, and others.

Let’s think about that for a moment. NOTHING representing another religion is even ALLOWED IN THE COUNTRY. This is not just a ban on proselytism, and goes far beyond virtually any place on the planet. This is almost a casual, throwaway line in the middle of routine regulations. Yet we treat the Saudi government as an entity with whom we are willing to do business, including the selling them billions of dollars of weapons to perpetrate this narrow, discriminatory theology and policy.

Now look at the other side. Saudi-funded groups across Europe and the United States are now routinely demanding (and seeking to gain through legal action) special privileges for their members here. The right to a separate public school (New York), the right to refuse transport to those carrying alcohol and other items (Minnesota) and countless other efforts by Muslim Brotherhood-related groups carrying out the plan of peaceful conquest of the United States.

Individuals, towns and states are paying millions of dollars in legal fees (those who choose to fight rather than cave) to fight giving these groups privileges and exceptions that no other religion here enjoy, or should enjoy. CAIR, ISNA and other groups claiming to speak for the Muslim world continually raise the specter of “Islamophobia” and discrimination when anything is said about their now-well documented ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas and other things they have so long denied. Interesting that there has been so little attention paid by any of these groups to true discrimination, hate and bigotry by the country that has been one of their patrons for decades.

It is truly a mind-boggling set of circumstances, brought home by those two small paragraphs on an official government website. I do not travel with a Bible, crucifix or other religious symbols. But I would like to think I could if I wanted to. Perhaps we should agree to those conditions of travel if we can ban all symbols of Islam here. Or perhaps we should simply refuse to do business with that type of government until there is some semblance of religious tolerance.

Won’t happen, of course, but it useful, at least to me, to remember why fighting the Brotherhood and its groups in this country is so important. They are not agents of tolerance, but agents of the worst form of intolerance, bigotry and hatred, made worse, not better, by the fact much of it is state sponsored. The very least we should do is refuse to do any sort of business with Islamist groups that do not publicly renounce funding from a government whose official policy is that of hatred and intolerance.

Sometimes a new poster thinks that they can disrupt years of experience and knowledge.

I hope it is a lesson for new posters, that it is not because they are new, it is based on value of a post and ability to get along and support each other, if you can do that you are welcome here.

If this is not for you, then there are other threads here.

This Thread has come under many different attacts, but the people here maintain a strong bond and respect for what the other does.

I would make the notion that maybe our new person, if he has been lurking for years go back to Thread 1, and see where we have come from.

Terror videos flood Internet
August 12, 2007

WASHINGTON - The video has all the bells and whistles of a Nintendo game: Three times, a small white subcompact rams a vehicle with American flags, igniting a fireball that rips the cars to pieces in a simulation of the March 2006 suicide attack that killed American diplomat David Foy in Karachi, Pakistan.

The latest al-Qaida offering in the war of ideas -- complete with warnings that U.S. embassies are prime targets, the bomber's testimonial and footage of past carnage -- had been promoted for days before its Aug. 6 release with the Internet teaser: "Coming soon ... the big surprise."

Experts say al-Qaida and its offshoots are engaged in a jihadi sweeps season, flooding the Internet with propaganda in an increasingly aggressive campaign to radicalize and recruit a global army of believers. "The subtext is, 'We're still here. We're still alive. And we're in charge,'" said terror expert Brian Jenkins of the Rand Corporation think tank.

As of July 25, al-Qaida's media arm, As-Sahab, had released 67 videos this year -- averaging one every three days -- compared to an average of one every six days in 2006, said IntelCenter, a private company that tracks the postings. The busiest month was May 2007, when 17 videos were released.

"You are talking about a very large and sophisticated campaign that is addressed to the best and brightest of the Muslim world," said Michael Scheuer, former head of the CIA's bin Laden unit. "They started in 2002 with a couple of electronic journals ... every few weeks, mostly with text and a few photographs, and have gone almost to a 24-hour news service. "... We do a lot of worrying about Al-Jazeera and Al-Arabiya . What we should worry about is al-Qaida becoming the CNN of the Muslim world."

To: nwctwx; Cindy; All
August 13, 2007: I received a email from a gent named Robert from Seattle WA who pointed out a news report of a radiological nature coming out of Jersey City, NJ. which you can watch below.

Story from Fox 5 News NYC (WNYW-TV FOX 5) Phone: 212-452-5555
You'll notice that the report goes a little crazy right after the reporter makes a long pause in the video. This peeked my interest so I watched it again only to catch something that I had missed the first time. ( Producers.. go figure. )

I heard something that struck me as being funny in the long pause of the reporter... Right after he says " HIGH LEVELS OF RADIOACTIVITY" I thought I heard someone talking to him. I recorded the segment and found the pause ( clearly visible in the audio spectrum ) and selected the segment and AMPLIFIED the segment three times ( That is all I did ).

Listen to this original segment and then the enhanced segment.
This is the Original Segment of Audio
Click to Download or Play The section to listen for is at 00:00:49

Image to the right is a screen capture in Cool Edit Pro of the original audio track from the YouTube video. You can clearly see the pause in Rob Malcolm's audio. This is the segment that I amplified and found the voice of what I presume to be the producer telling Malcolm to "Tell them no radioactivity"..

You can check it yourself on the YouTube audio. It's a perfect match to the original. Suggestion: Listen closely at the pause of the reporter for background audio. Turn up your speakers. Now listen to the enhanced segment...( The segment that I increased the gain in the audio )

Click to Download or Play The section to listen for is at 00:00:49

Someone PLAINLY tells the reporter through his ear set - which his microphone picked up, "TELL THEM NO RADIOACTIVITY" - and the reporter begins to fumble through his piece -- probably because his story just flew out the window.

Our good budies at homelandsecurityus.com picked this up too... I personally think it was probably nothing at this point, follow up this morning was minimal and made it sound as if it was mostly a false alarm. FR is a good place to get the word out though. ;)

You’re very welcome Mata6858.

I try to put this information out at least twice a year.

The internet mirrors our society today; which of course means both the good and the bad take advantage of it.

In keeping with Muslim Tradition...

http://www.missionislam.com/health/circumcisionislam.html

And part of the religion of Ibrahim is circumcision.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “The Prophet Ibrahim circumcised himself when he was eighty years old and he circumcised himself with an axe.” (Related by Bukhari, Muslim & Ahmad.)

Ibn Abbas (r.a.) was asked “How old were you when the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) died?” He replied, “At that time I had been circumcised. At that time people did not circumcise the boys till they attained the age of puberty (Baligh).” (Bukhari)

Most Fuqaha’ (Islamic Jurists) say that circumcision is obligatory upon the men and this is the opinion of Jumhur (the majority of the scholars). If it were not obligatory, then Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) would not have troubled himself at such a later stage of his life.

My tinfoil hat is firmly on my head this morning, but I am bemused by the Rove resignation. All of the conservative beltway pundits are taken aback by the suddenness of his departure on 8/31. This seems an extremely odd time to choose with the Petraeus report coming in Sept. and the congressional uproar that is expected then. I cannot remember the last time a high level political operative gave only 2 weeks notice. There may be a number of perfectly rational political reasons for his quick exit, but my “spidey-sense” is definately tingling.

I am planning on keeping a very close watch on the travel itineraries of the President and on the members of his cabinet for late Aug. into Sept.

Gosh, I’m glad there is a place that I can express this thought...my friends and associates would laugh themselves sick over my paranoia on this one!

To me it’s a non-story.
I think the bigger story might be how Rove lasted so long in spite of his enemies.
