As former leaders of ex-gay ministries, we apologize to those individuals and families who believed our message that there is something inherently wrong with being gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender. Some who heard our message were compelled to try to change an integral part of themselves, bringing harm to themselves and their families. Although we acted in good faith, we have since witnessed the isolation, shame, fear, and loss of faith that this message creates. We apologize for our part in the message of broken truth we spoke on behalf of Exodus and other organizations.
Your comprehension skills need sharpening. Good night.
As I said...
You've not seen black helicopters nearby? I've seen them . . . and a bunch of black field tents out west of town. But the scariest part is that there's a dirt road leading into the field were those tents are located, but there's no road coming out!.
I’m not saying desire itself is a choice....but following a desire is. I’d really like a $250,000 Ferrari, but I hate the thought of stealing, and maybe going to jail worse—so I remain not a car thief. (Does this mean though, I have a car thief orientation?)
Since there is no, or really very little, social stigma to homosexual behavior anymore, and, our media is constantly drumming the drum that it’s just a fine and dandy gay lifestyle—more people are tempted to think following their twisted desire that way will make them happier than not following it. People always have the tendency to think the grass is greener on the other side of the fence—and if someone is unhappy in a marriage they often look elsewhere—and for a few, that’s way across the fence... Demonstrably though, the propaganda that people are happy doing homosexuality, is just that, lying propaganda—but some very unhappy people believe it. So the bishop lives with his boyfriend—and later commits himself to an alcoholic treatment center multiple times. Sexual behavior is of the deepest desire—and affect, I’m not taking that lightly, still I have confidence that people can, and do change. People live in dark denial who think change is impossible.
Even without change in desire, do we as a people encourage destructive behavior? Ask a recovering alcoholic if they still desire to drink—most will admit yes—that doesn’t mean though they feed that destructive desire by giving into it. And it doesn’t mean as a society we encourage people to just give into such destructive desires—civilization itself is the regulation of individual desires’ fulfillment by force of law.
I agree 100%. Great post.
The issue isn't desire; the issue is ACTION. Which is why this "gay rights" garbage IS garbage--it's based on the idea that one's actions should somehow be ensconced in the law as sacred because...well, because this group CHOOSES to take those actions, and that's it.
Amen, Mr. Atheist. I think we have some theistic common ground.
You don’t have to believe in God to believe this absolute lunacy of making behavior somehow equivalent to basic human nature—and forcing the rest of us to condone it, for one example, but making it part of what we accept when renting an apartment or having “partner benefits” for state workers (paid with my tax money)—is destructive to society. Not to mention being absolute BS.
Quibbling over what causes homosexuality is absurd and pointless. I am as certain as I can be that no gay person cares what caused them to be gay, except to the extent that it has political ramifications. Even if you could demonstrate that it was 100% environmental, most would not want to change. You would have to demonstrate to them why they should want to change, and that would be virtually impossible.
Hi, yes, I saw your tag line. OK, so you probably like the Red Sox. I can forgive you for that lol. Seriously, what’s the point?
It was the “atheist” part I was pointing out to you.
BS,
You put a mechanical stimulator on any healthy penis and no matter what the person claims their orientation to be they are going to become stiff and finish the deed.
Sexual orientation is a myth!
You can quit being drunk by not drinking. You can lose weight by diet and excercise. You can quit being an addict by putting down the drugs. The one behavior that you have absolutely no control over is homosexuality. Once you’re gay, it’s for life, and no one should ever do a damn thing to help you live a normal lifestyle. Would that alcoholics, fatasses, and hippies had such a good PR department.
Two words:
Publicity Hound

Hmm... Lets think about this. Is it cause? Or is it effect? Are you aroused because of the preference or is it your choice to be aroused?
Merely declaring it to be one way or another is meaningless. Moreover, we don't consider other compulsive behaviors with the same sanctity as we do "gayness." If I am compelled to count my steps everywhere I go, or constantly wash my hands, we call that a disorder. Why don't we call being compulsively attracted to the wrong gender a disorder (politics of course).
I wouldn't rely on the illusion of certainty about human behavior based on today's version of science. I think 5000 years of human experience is probably a better gauge on the normality of conduct as opposed to a full blown creation of the most suspect century in the history of humanity (20th). The 20th brought us National Socialism, Soviet style communism, the nanny state, "free" sex, the drug revolution, secular humanism, the unfettered right to abortion and the norming of perversions. Considering the death toll, I'll take the Spanish Inquisition any day.
but i get your point.
ann heche fascinates me.
gays dismiss her (except at the time she came out she was embraced), but for me, she seems to be the minor monkey wrench twixt the choice v. genetic discussion.
What troubles me most is, the popeye syndrome essentially says, Our Creator gave everybody but gays free will.
Soon to be followed by entry into the sanctuary of the AIDS clinic, the long-term drug study group for HIV-positive subjects, the ICU, and eventually the hospice.
Happy, happy, happy.
Essentialism is Lambda Legal's ticket to the Supreme Court decree they want outlawing religious censure (if orientation is "essential" then homosexuality = melanin), but they haven't yet got all the Queer Theory enthusiasts on board, who are laying down a 180-degree opposite line on sexuality.
The players need to get on the same page, or someone's liable to point out the cognitive dissonance at an awkward juncture -- say, during oral argument before the Supreme Court.
The answer? The Homosexual Agenda.
In addition, it doesn’t help that it takes a lot of hard work, persistence, determination, and facing fears and pain to change oneself. All these “ex gay survivors” are quitters.
Be that as it may, God’s grace and Mercy trumps all one has to face. However, working with God requires the obedience to Him of the individual, and their patience with God’s apparent “slowness.”
Ultimately, God is the One with the plan to get someone from point A to B, and working through change with God means getting in sync with Him, and following Him step by step. Ultimately, He’s the One who changes a person, who touches and heals a person, and makes him healthy and whole.
