Group looking to buy Cindy Sheehans property in Crawford being denied
Updated: Jun 1, 2007 6:46pm
Anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan is giving the cold shoulder to a group that wants to buy her property near President Bush's Crawford ranch.
Sheehan announced this week she was selling the land, and would consider any reasonable offers.
The land, known as Camp Casey, which was named after Sheehans son who died in Iraq, will reportedly go up for auction on E-bay with a starting bid of $80,000.
A group called "Move America Forward" announced Friday it wants to buy the land and said itll do whatever it takes to get it.
However, Sheehans sister, Dede Miller said, "It'll be a cold day in hell," before it's sold to the organization.
Residents in Crawford said they're thrilled to see Sheehan go.
"She just causes havoc. She does nothing but cause trouble in this town, and we don't need that for our little-bitty city," Crawford resident Daryl Abbe said.
The bids will start at $27,000 more than the $52,000 Sheehan originally paid for it.
Wait for the inevitable Sheriff’s sale, now that the Democrats have abandoned their tool, as it is useless now and no one wants her garbage spewn near them.
Aren’t there anti-discrimination laws that say you can’t pick and choose who you sell real estate to?
why would they even advertise who is interested in the property? They should have just kept their mouths shut and hired someone to bid on it and tell the commies they wanted to build a house on it or something.
The group wanting to buy it may have grounds for a lawsuit against Sheehan for discrimination.
I’m soooo tempted to go bid on it!
Wow.
Ok....I better not go to eBay....I know I will hit bid.
I suppose she can sell to whomever she pleases, but she should keep in mind she may end up losing (more) money if she doesn’t take a fair offer.
It wouldn’t seem it’s on the open market if she’s going to have an auction on eBay.
I have to wonder if it’s really worth that much more than what she paid, though.
There are no laws against discriminating against someone on the basis of politics. After 2004, there was a company (software) that announced a Democrat Only policy and a Bed and Breakfast Inn that said they would not rent to Bush voters.
NOW, I think that the FEC can rule that this is illegal but the FEC hasn’t enforced election laws in many a year.
Isn’t political correctness wonderful? It serves to criminalize conservative thought.
That software company’s policy was Democrat EMPLOYEE only.
The seller can refuse to accept based on the potential buyers bid.
Well, I don’t see it on eBay now. Maybe there is something to that.
The land will probably fall in value once Bush leaves the White House. She has created so many hard feelings in the area and made Crawford hell on earth for the people who have to live there. Of course, she matters more than anybody else.
If I put my house on the market for $200,000 and the highest bid is $190,00, I can refuse to sell. That is my right no discrimination involved. As long as it is a dispute over dollars, as the owner of the property, I can refuse. Even take the property off the market.
Yes, I agree. But if I agree to your asking price, I don't think you can say no.
That’s what I thought too!
Maybe that was Sheehans lies.
hey how about a Black member of the America Move Forward group buying it? Yipes...refuse to sell to a Black? DISCRIMINATION!
Even if you match my asking price, I can pull my property off the market (for whatever reason). Still not discriminatory, still my property.
By law, I can say no until a contract is signed.
Of course but thats only for the common folk. It doesn't apply to them.
