BUSH CHIDES FELLOW REPUBS FOR OPPOSING HIS FLAKEY AMNESTY DEAL
When your plumbing springs a leak, the first thing anyone with an IQ higher than a clam does is turn off the water—that’s why it’s so hard for our good citizens to understand why President Bush doesn’t secure our borders and ports first instead of submitting promises and a repeat of the failed 1986 amnesty.
The amnesty deal Bush negotiated with Democrats and ‘open border’ Republicans will turn the U.S. into another Venezuela. Consider that the number of illegal aliens within our shores is not precisely known; most estimates range anywhere from 12 to 20 million. Unfortunately these are only ‘guesstimates’ no one actually knows how many there are. Some claim it could be 30 million or higher. If each amnestied illegal only brings in four relatives, our population will increase anywhere from 48 to 120 million and perhaps more.
Bush’s open ended amnesty welcomes anyone who can provide a piece of paper that they arrived in the U.S. before 1 January. People from all over the world will be knocking on our door and if no one answers they will sneak in. There is no limit on the number of illegal aliens who will be amnestied nor are there severe penalties for fraud.
Fool me once, shame on you! Fool me twice, shame on me! Only a fool repeats his mistakes but President Bush and Senators Kennedy and McCain are leading the charge to repeat the mistakes of the 1986 amnesty. The 1986 bill directly led to the estimated 12-30 million illegal aliens that are within our borders today.
Lies, more lies and damned lies. Despite assurances from Senator Kennedy that the 1986 amnesty would stop illegal immigration; the 1986 bill encouraged millions to enter the country illegally in the hope of future amnesties. In 1986, voters were assured that amnesty was a one time occurrence that would never be repeated. Is it any wonder that Americans can’t trust their politicians?
I'm equally miffed at Larry Craig R-ID. He voted against the Vitter amendment to strip the amnesty out of the bill. By that action I must infer that he wants amnesty. He also wants me to help find a suitable opponent to run against him in the next election. Craig appears to be "bought" by the agriculture lobby. It's time to find a real conservative to run against him.
Why? So the Democrats an promote Polosi into his office or some pro-amnesty replacement? Dumb idea.
It is not a dumb idea for anyone in the Administration to resign over the President’s gratuitous rhetoric in the immigration debate. Similarly, it was not dumb for others to resign over the Harriet Myers nomination - and none did. Methinks it is time for Administration personnel to inform the President in no uncertain terms that there are very real limits to what he thinks he can pull off. He is the head of Party, not a lone wolf.

A few “conservatives” secretly would like to see Pelosi and company in there so they can have more to bitch about.
This misses the point too. Speak directly to the point: Why exactly is the President, the head of his Party, gratutiously name-calling those in his Party who happen to oppose his position on immigration. Explain this. What purpose does this serve? When did Reagan or Ford or Bush the elder ever do this?
Yeah well-I want food labeling-country of origin-China regularly kills people with their food and dogs also.
As a matter of strong principle and to show he stands with the right thinking folks that put him into office.

He’s definitely lost his edge,and that,I realize,is putting it mildly.Believe me,i’m not defending his most recent gaffe-just trying to understand why he’s come undone.Too much Dem pressure,I guess.
There will not be a Bush impeachment-get real. There is a very good chance since Repubs have ticked off their base-in fact more than their base, they will lose big in 2008-the presidency and more congressional seats. Repubs have only themselves to blame for not acting like Republicans.
Pres Bush was always for this type of immigration plan. I knew that when I voted for him. However, our Senators and congressmmen are turncoats who never ran pro-amnesty.
I predict a massive defeat in 08 unless someone with b*lls takes charge of this issue.
If the VP quits, the President names another. The job doesn’t go to Pelousy or named by the Rats.
It serves no purpose; I’m totally against this immigration bill. But I’m not going to vote for Hillary or Obama in ‘08 to “punish” him for it.
I've done the same thing after a lifetime of GOP membership.
The thing that is frightening about his push to pass this monstrosity of an amnesty is the ALMOST-DESPERATE way he's doing it. He's attacking those in his own party who don't agree with him. That's the action of a desperate man. I have to wonder why he's so desperate...promises made to Mexico and to Daddy's NWO, maybe? Is he afraid of a spanking??
Whatever it is, his actions are DISGUSTING, and most of America has absolutely no respect for him anymore.
We’re coming to some agreements. Again, no one is going to vote Dem. But, I for one, am not giving money to the Rep Party, as I have in the past. And I am not giving money to particular candidates, as I have in the past. I am interested only in Reps who bring some critical reason to this issue - and who, as a result, stop all the name-calling.
This is why the President is so mistaken here. He is not changing votes. He is altering money flows. And for no good reason.

I like your optimism, and you’re outlining a best case scenario with which I have no quarrel.
Likely the same "conservatives" that didn't actively object to McCain-Feingold in the mistaken belief that Bush would veto it or the Supreme Court would strike it down. Wrong on both accounts. It is critical to stop bad legislation before it reaches the floor for a vote.
