Rush should keep quiet about his choice. After all, it didn’t turn out so well for Simon Cowell.

Doesn’t it stand to reason that a radio host who has anywhere from 15-23 million listeners per week just might have an influence?

WOW!!! I like Rush but he is way overstating his power.

I hope Rush was being tongue-in-cheek. Sometimes he is very skillful about pulling the legs of his audience.

I don’t think he has an unrealistic view of himself—he sounds like he was just going along with the caller.

But in case he wasn’t, he would be wise to remember the old adage—the bigger they are, the harder they fall.

The Fox News poll showed Ron Paul being the “victor” of the latest debate...please. What that tells me is that the poll was flooded by DUmmies, Code Pinkers, and other run of the mill liberals.

There is no way in hell Rush should get behind this nutburger, Ron Paul.

This is pretty dumb. Rush is usually too smart to say or believe this sort of thing.

Yes, he has a good deal of power to influence the nomination process.

No, there’s no way in hell he could give the nomination to Ron Paul or to any of the minor candidates, even if he tried. And if he tried to give it to a loser like McCain, he would lose a lot of his credibility.

IMHO, Duncan Hunter is the best of the minor candidates, yet I doubt whether Rush could push him over the top unless the situation changes in ways I do not expect. I like Duncan Hunter very much, but he’s just not on enough radar screens yet. He’d be a good VP, which would give him future visibility.

I think he’s got a point on Ron Paul. As a local conservative radio host pointed out, Ron Paul is the Evil Elf of the GOP.

The only way either Ron Paul or the Evil Elf have half a chance of being president is if they run against each other. But then a third party candidate would probably win.

Sorry I can’t remember the Evil Elf’s real name right now but he’s the one with the Spock hair and tries to introduce...Kuncinich, Dennis Kucinich, the Evil Elf.

It is very obvious that those who are posting negative comments about Rush's remarks did not listen to his show.

I did listen today. His remarks were tongue in cheek. He was making fun of those who believe that he alone picks and chooses the nominee.

His making fun of those people should have been obvious to anyone listening.

Hey Rush, if you have so much power why don’t you use a bit of it to bury the amnesty crap? There’s always time to “annoint” later.

Limbaugh also discussed why Paul was at the top or near the top of many interactive polls, explaining the congressman has many loyal supporters who are "spamming" Internet surveys with their votes for Paul. He also says media outlets are being flooded with messages from the Paul campaign.

Yeah that's it Rush. The Paul campaign is calling all these places and 5 spammers are spamming the Internet surveys. Guess that's why Fox went to a phone survey. Oh wait that didn't turn out so well did it? Hannity talked the format up until it didn't come out like he wanted. Only then was it the spammers.

I alone have the power to move the [Republican] base."

I used to listen to Rush long ago, but only in the past few years have I realized what a pompous horse's behind he's become. He has the power to 'annoint' a candidate? Don't want us thinking for ourselves eh Rushbo? Well only if you we 'think' with you. How thoughtful....

It was totally tongue in cheek. The left loves to quote Rush out of context or pretend he’s serious when he’s joking. It always suprises me that so many freepers fall for it every time.

Ron Paul may have some interesting and worthwhile things to say but his delivery is not good and he looks a little weird. Democrats would eat him for lunch in a debate.

My impression is that this is spoken in this way to get the drive-by mediots to grab their penny pencils and their keyboards and start writing about just how EEEEEEEEE-villl he is, and how arrogant, and that he has used Rasputin’s power to mesmerize his audience. Those who listen to Rush regularly and who are familiar with his style recognize his brand of satire. But he does love to tweak the pencil-lickers on the Left. Dittos, Rush!

"That is very true, and that is why I must exercise this power responsibly, not as a cheerleader," said Limbaugh, "which is why I'm not picking a name right now. I alone have the power to move the [Republican] base."

I suspect that Rush said this with tongue planted firmly in his cheek.

From someone who listens to Rush everyday, the man was joking.

The left is always taking him too seriously, but the right needs to remember his prime method of humor also - illustrating absurdity by being absurd.

The MSM considers Rush the pied piper of the radical right. Every so often he obliges them by playing the part as a joke.

Rush might have overplayed his hand. Conservatives constitute the base of the GOP. If Rush chooses Giuliani, the base will not follow him. If Rush chooses Giuliani, he needs to have his head examined.
