FR CANTEEN MISSION STATEMENT

Showing support and boosting the morale of our military and our allied military and the family members of the above. Honoring those who have served before.

HINT & TIPS

Welcome to the FReeper Canteen Hints & Tips that can be make your life easier. Or not! Hopefully, you'll find something here that will make your life easier. Or maybe someone you know could use one of these ideas. If you have a hint or tip of your own, be sure to leave it behind before you leave the Canteen.

Ma can always use helpful ideas on how to keep the Canteen clean with all the youngsters running around.

Let's start with some general household hints.

*** Use of soap wrapper: Don't throw away the wrapper after removing a bar of soap. Place it inside your shoe cabinet or shoe box. It's a cheap way of filling the air with a nice smell.

*** If your polished furniture has small scratches: Try rubbing them with a shelled walnut. You'll see the scratches just disappear!

*** If you have problem with slippery shoelaces which refuse to stay tied: Rub them with a candle and make them less slippery so that knots stay put.

*** To keep lint and dust off glass top tables, wash them in a solution of warm water and fabric softener. Add one tablespoon of liquid fabric softener to one quart of warm water. The fabric softener will clean the glass inexpensively and will help keep lint from gathering on the glass. Also great for computer screens and TV's

*** Don't throw away odd socks or socks with holes in them, use them to make a mop. Tie several socks (10-12 works best) to a mop or broom handle and use just like you would a regular mop. White cotton socks work best for this project and by the time the "sock mop" wears out, you'll probably have plenty more socks to make a new one.

***Get rid of pet hair on upholstery effortlessly by wiping the furniture with a slightly dampened sponge.

A couple of things Ive learned lately.. If you have a fussy 10 month old get the baby seat for your bicycle ($20 at walmart), it will pay for itself in no time. If you take her big sisters training wheels off and she isnt ready you will have to put them back on...be sure to tighten them very well before going around the block.

If you have a teen that wants to argue all the time about the most trivial stuff and feels she must have the last word, dont play that game. You cant win and there is no end to it. Its not leadership. Just ignore it. When you do speak it will carry more weight.

LOL! I don’t know, I haven't tied it....maybe ;)

Do you know anything good for the poison ivy, other than calamine lotion? I have all over my legs. I can’t get rid of it. I had it on my face just a few weeks ago. I thought that was bad. ;)

It’s awful. First I panicked and thought I had bug bites. LOL! That would be worse right? ;)

I can’t get rid of it. There is so much here that each time out in the garden, I must come in contact with it again.

What a cool picture of your dad. I’ll bet he was happy to get out of there, though, and be home with his family.

God bless him and I thank him for his brave service to our country!

LOL! Is she just a teensy bit hyper tonight?

Hope you can get rid of it in your garden. You might
have to hire someone to do it for you. You can’t spend
the summer itching like that! LOL!

I carefully, sprayed it. I will do it again. I just went around the boarders of the property. I think you may be right though. I see it in the grass and in locations we would be relaxing in. Not good. I’m just glad that it’s me that has it and no one else here.
