Just thought that this would be of interest to Duncan Hunter supporters.
I was just watching Hannity and Colmes and Sean Hannity asked her who she supports for president. She replied "Duncan Hunter". Sean said, "But do you really think that he can win?". Ann then said that he might win if Sean Hannity would actually talk about him on his show.
I'm glad that Ann called Hannity on this. He has been hyping Giuliani for the past few months while ignoring the true conservative in the race.

Kudos for her kicking Hannity in the shin over his constant schilling for Dooty Rooty.
Getting the kind of legislation Hunter has passed and controlling a committee like Armed services takes a lot of adminisistration abilities. At least he understands government and how it works and little things like the 2nd amendment which some other candidates with 'administrative' experience could care less about.

In your final sentence, you make the case that comparing free trade and fair trade isn't possible since the two words have different meanings when they're applied in the context of international trade. Free trade being associated with liberty, and fair trade more akin to fairness. Very libertarian sounding to me and dead wrong.
Btw, I'm no wishy-washy libertarian, nor narrow minded, but I did know how to read and understand Reagan. Many people never knew who Reagan was and STILL don't. Reagan had a deep held belief about fair play and understood the difference between protectionism and fair trade. The two speeches I posted to you make that abundantly clear. The short list of items I posted to you shows that Reagan tried to slap down unfair trade practices he believed were being employed against the best interests of the US. Sometimes as President, Reagan struck a balance that he thought America could live with. In the 1980`s, Reagan wasn't the radical of earlier times, but rather a US statesman and leader of the free world. He acted accordingly. But don't you believe for a second that Reagan didn't think the US was getting shafted by foreign nations when it came to unfair trade practices.
What Reagan envisioned for the future of North American trade, IMO, never came to be. NAFTA didn't turn out to be the trade agreement it was meant to be. And don't bother posting data to show how much trade expanded and the high levels of trade volume there has been under NAFTA. BFD! Anyone could have predicted that. The US gained as much under the provisions of NAFTA, as its lost. At best the US has seen results from NAFTA that are break even.
CAFTA is just a continuation of NAFTA, except this time instead of dealing with just our closest neighbors --- one third world, one semi euro-socialist --- we're dealing with a bunch of strict "third worlders" who have zero respect for the US. Also, the WTO is a total joke. Member nations of the WTO are screwing America whenever the opportunity arises and they're not random cases either. US markets remain under severe restrictions imposed by many nations of the world through the international objectives of the WTO. The WTO is an anti-American organization, giving trade leverage to nations who don't deserve it.
As a Constitutional conservative, I believe in a limited government. However, one critical aspect associated with the duties of the federal government and our elected officials in WashDC, is to assure that the American people are getting the best deals from trade agreements the Congress enters into on behalf of its citizens. In the last 10-15 years the US has entered into many trade agreements that haven't been in the best interests of the American people. Cheap prices are great, but that shouldn't be a major factor under consideration when negotiating trade agreements.
Being placed in the same category with men like Ronald Reagan, Robert Taft, Alexander Hamilton, Calvin Coolidge and Duncan Hunter isn't a bad thing. Paying more attention to US interests and working at protecting the American people from its enemies, to include in some circumstances its trading partners, is a worthy endeavor. We should always stay vigilant. An effort the American see as moral and just. Many aspects of human life aren't always cut and dried. While the US was built on free and open trade, expanding its size and scope of power in the process, that free trade was basically contained within our own borders. We shouldn't expect foreigners to play by the same rules we Americans have played by throughout our history. Not that business dealings can't cut throat and hardcore. Just that Americans have always been fair minded, just like Ronald Reagan.
You come across as an economic libertarian, one who believes in liberal free trade across wide open borders and that governments have no business stepping into the trade between free peoples of the world. So, what is your position of US immigration reform? Do you support the House bill, HR4437 or do you side with the Senate's proposal, S.2611? The former requires enforcement first. Seal the borders, tough employer sanctions, then we'll discuss others measures like temporary work visas. The latter proposal requires a more liberal and comprehensive approach to immigration reform. So, what say you?
