Ann Coulter supports Duncan Hunter
Fox News | me

Posted on 05/08/2007 6:35:55 PM PDT by rob21

Just thought that this would be of interest to Duncan Hunter supporters.

I was just watching Hannity and Colmes and Sean Hannity asked her who she supports for president. She replied "Duncan Hunter". Sean said, "But do you really think that he can win?". Ann then said that he might win if Sean Hannity would actually talk about him on his show.

I'm glad that Ann called Hannity on this. He has been hyping Giuliani for the past few months while ignoring the true conservative in the race.

Considering he was DEAD LAST in amount of time given to speak at the debate, he did remarkably well.

The tough call was to the question of why Hannity is shilling for Rudy so much, because of anticipated Presidential access or because he actually supports him.

First Medved, now Ann...things are starting to look good. And while Michael Reagan hasn't officially endorsed anyone, he had this to say...

If conservatives could write down everything they wanted...Duncan Hunter would be that man.

" I can understand why she would support someone else>"

And at CPAC, she stopped just short of endorsement, stating from the podium that Romney was "probably the best we have."

Good to hear that Ann no longer believes the former liberal Governor of Massachusetts who belongs to the bizaare, blasphemous cult of Mormonism is "probably the best we have."

Watch out not for the few Rudy supporters left here at FR, but more so for the Fred supporters here at FR.
If you thought the Rudy supporters were something to behold, you have not meet or read a Fred supporter on FR.
Yikes!!!
BTW who is Duncan Hunter?
Compared to Rudy Hunter is...(fill in answer)?

I just wonder how can anyone support a candidate that seems to be a protectionist?

Perhaps because even conservatives who are not protectionist themselves are desperate for someone mirrors their views, so they ignore Hunter's protectionism, or pretend it isn't an important foreign policy and domestic issue.

Mostly, though, I believe free trade has simply lessened in popularity. Ingraham, Savage, O'Reilly, Dobbs and Hannity to a lesser extent are all somewhere between fair traders and economic nationalists, and many otherwise conservative people admire them for this. Free trade is seen as counter to traditional morality, sovereignty, national borders, national security and national economic strength.

I believe it to be destructive sophistry of much the sort that China engaged in under Emperor Wu, but "Buy American" (which Hannity repeats pretty relentlessly) can be a pretty attractive slogan. If one accepts that slogan as an essential tenet of patriotism and therefore as a part of (American) morality, economic nationalism/extreme protectionism pretty much follows as an essential conservative ideal to be worked toward and made into a fact of American law.

That canard is utter rubbish. Is Nobility a bald, liberal mayor of a liberal city? A screeching socialist hag with ZILCH for qualifications? A lying sack o’ shit half term, half black Senator? A backstabbing dinosaur senator form AZ? A flip flopping RINO gov from MA?

Hunter is SO far ahead of these clowns in qualifications its laughable.

Maybe Sean Hannity has lost his freak'en mind! How about Hannity`s betrayed conservatism. This isn't the first time Hannity`s came out for a liberal/RINO. He was shilling for Arnie Schwarzy in 2003 and 2006! Its a pattern with Sean.

A vote for Rooty is a vote for liberalism and no better then voting for Hillary Rotten. Conservatives don't vote for liberals, or haven't you noticed. ;^)

Either Hanity is as liberal as Giuliani or dumb as a post..

I've never thought that Mr. Hannity was all that smart. He's gotten better at representing the conservative cause over the years, but he's still a bit weak. His support for Giuliani has made me lose much of the respect that I had started to have for him.

>>>>>>... I believe free trade has simply lessened in popularity. .... to a lesser extent are all somewhere between fair traders and economic nationalists, and many otherwise conservative people admire them for this.

Sounds like Ronald Reagan.

Reagan believed in free trade, as long as it was fair trade. And while Reagan wasn't a protectionist per se, many economists considered his administration to be the most protectionist since Herbert Hoover. Reagan signed off on special trade protection for Harley-Davidson, imposed quotas on steel imports, pressured Japan to restrict vehicle shipments to the United States, tightened limits on foreign textiles, accepted new barriers to imported sugar, raised duties on Canadian shakes and shingles. All in the name of fair trade. One thing is certain, Reagan was no globalist.

Here's two radio speeches to the nation on the issues of free and fair trade.

Radio Address to the Nation on Free and Fair Trade September 7th, 1985

Radio Address to the Nation on Free and Fair Trade April 25th, 1987

"We hope that through these negotiations we will be able to convince our trading partners to stop their unfair trading practices and open those markets that are now closed to American exports. We will take countermeasures only as a last resort, but our trading partners should not doubt our determination to see international trade conducted fairly with the same rules applicable to all. I'm committed to and will continue to fight for fair trade. American exporters and American workers deserve a fair shake abroad, and we intend to see they get it. Our objective will always be to make world trading partnerships freer and fairer for all."
--- President Ronald Reagan

...but I'm certain this great man wouldn't suggest spending decades in congress as a way to lead the free world

He probably wouldn't suggest spending decades in Hollywood as a way to lead the free world, either. LOL!

Rate the individual on their merits, not on those about them while they earned those credentials, please.
