Terror Arrests in Fort Dix Plot FORT DIX, N.J.
May 8, 2007 - Six ethnic Albanians have been arrested in a plot to storm the Fort Dix installation in Burlington County.
Five of the suspects were arrested in Cherry Hill. They will be arraigned later today in federal court. Officials say it will happen in either in Camden or Newark.
Investigators say the suspects planned to use automatic weapons to storm the base and kill solders. The men were lured into a secret meeting to purchase AK-47s from an arms dealer, who was secretly cooperating with the FBI.
Officials say the suspects worked on a number of targets, including the Dover Air Force Base in Delaware, Fort Monmouth in Eatontown, and several Coast Guard stations.
Federal agents made the arrests when the suspects zeroed in on Fort Dix.
Officials say some of the suspects were caught on tape.

A tip helped authorities arrest six New Jersey men Monday night in connection to an apparent terror cell, according to NBC 10s sister station WNBC in New York.
Five of them were arrested in Cherry Hill, according to reports.
Investigators said the men planned to use AK-47s to storm Fort Dix and open fire on soldiers and civilians stationed at the New Jersey base, noting that other military locations were scouted by the terrorist cell.
Three of the unnamed suspects are brothers who are all believed to be Islamic radicals, according to sources. Some of the six arrested men were also born in Albania and the former Yugoslavia, but they have spent a significant amount of time in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, according to authorities.

NEW YORK -- Six men from New Jersey have been arrested in an alleged terror plot against soldiers at Fort Dix, according investigators.
Investigators said the men planned to use automatic weapons to enter Fort Dix and kill as many soldiers as they could at the N.J. base. Fort Dix was just one of several military and security locations allegedly scouted by this group, authorities said.
Investigators told Newschannel 4's Jonathan Dienst that these arrests are the result of a tip to the FBI and use of an informant to track the suspects. The terror suspects traveled over the last several months from New Jersey to the Poconos where they practiced firing automatic weapons, investigators said.
Investigators said the group discussed targeting numerous locations like Dover Air base, Fort Monmouth and several Coast Guard stations before deciding on Fort Dix as their intended target. Fort Dix is run in part by the Army and is a reserve-training center, but active units take part in training, including some which focuses on counter-terrorism....
We most likely will be dealing with this for years to come.

I hope someone thinks to ask the illegals how they got here.
Thanks for the ping.
Probably just the start with many more to come.
I don’t know if it was posted (500+ posts I will not sift through) but an article on Foxnews.com said at least two of them were in the country ILLEGALLY.
How sweet. It’s too bad they didn’t wait another couple of months - they would have been citizens.
If the illegal alien terrorist have kids, can they have sanctuary in a leftist church?
Will prosecuter Johnny Sutton jail the FBI officials for violating the rights of illegal aliens?
Was there any racial profiling?
How much tax money do they get while living in the US?
Yeah. Shouldn’t that read
“The description of the suspects as Islamic militants renewed fears in New Jerseys non-Muslim community.
Hi JP, thanks for the ping. Well, we talked of this type of threat long ago.. and how many are sitting right here in this country is anyone’s guess.. now doubt many are among the illegals streaming across the borders.. Damn, We are at war!
now = no
I don’t see how either. In the bases I have lived on following 9/11, they have installed even more security features, as well. If someone were to manage to get past the guards without being stopped, there are stops that have been installed to prevent whoever it is from getting any further. It’s not like our military hasn’t considered that someone may try to storm a gate. I don’t know about Army bases (when we were at Ft. Sill for training, it was pre-9/11, and there was NO security at the entrances at all), but the USMC still uses Marines at their gates, and plenty of them.
Rice was saying she has no problem with Iran relations if they say they will stop with enrichment. Good grief!
So far I’ve seen nothing about how they got here, how long they’ve been here, or any of the other crucial stuff. Plus I am sick of the media calling them “home grown.” How do they qualify as home grown - they’re all foreign born, only one was a US citizen but was actually born in Jordan, and three of them were here illegally from the Balkans. Really, really home grown.
US foils alleged plot to attack US military base - update
Washington - Federal police broke up an alleged plot by suspected terrorists to attack military facilities in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware after monitoring the group for 17 months, federal officials said Tuesday. The group, which included ten people, intended to "attack and kill at least 100 soldiers" at Fort Dix Army base or another facility using rocket-propelled grenades or other weapons, according to documents filed Monday by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in federal court.
The FBI arrested at least five suspects, including Dritan Duka, Mohammad Ibrahim Shnewer, Eljvir Duka (also known as Elvis Duka), Shain Duka and Serdar Tatar, according to official documents.
A sixth possible co-conspirator, Agron Abdullahu - who allegedly helped procure weapons because he had a gun license - is also mentioned in the court filing. The suspects appeared to be foreign, but it was not clear from where or if they were in the country legally.
The plot began to unravel in January 2006, when FBI agents received a tip from a retail store that it had duplicated a suspicious video into a DVD that showed "10 young men ... in their early twenties shooting assault weapons at a firing range."
They were "calling for jihad and shouting in Arabic, 'Allah Akbar' (God is great)," the charges stated.
Using two paid informants, the FBI kept track of the group through audio recordings allegedly made with the consent of the suspects - and at one point, one of the informers came under suspicion of being just that.
The 26-page document describes the group's debate about targets, including Fort Dix Army base, Lakehurst Naval Air Station, the Dover (Delaware) Air Force Base, the Army-Navy football game in Philadelphia and military ships docked in the Philadelphia harbour.
One man suggests they join the US Army so they can attack from the inside.
The men practised using hand guns and rifles at a shooting range in the forests near Gouldsboro, Pennsylvania, obtained semi-automatic assault weapons and tried to obtain Kalashnikovs and rocket-propelled grenades.
The arrests were made within a month after Dritan Duka and Shnewer ordered AK-47s through one of the informants. The men talked about using personal savings to buy the weapons, according to the document.
The suspects obtained a map of Fort Dix which they hid in the car belonging to the mother of one of the suspects, and carried out surveillance of the base using their cell phones to take pictures so as not to draw attention to themselves.
"What is nice with the phone is that if you are stopped by a police, you will delete it from memory," the document quotes Shnewer as saying, in a "consensually recorded meeting" in August 2006.
At times, the men watched videos of the killing of US soldiers that made them laugh, or jihadist material posted on websites.
Tatar, who expressed concern about the welfare of his family, also said he was willing to die in the attack.
"It doesn't matter to me, whether I get locked up, arrested, or get taken away. It doesn't matter. Or I die ... I'm doing it in the name of Allah," Tatar was quoted as saying.
LOL! Hadn't thought of it that way!
Now I'm really baffled by the "home grown" thing, though, because they keep repeating that the would-be terrorists themselves were "home grown." How do 6 foreign born individuals, only one a US citizen (but born and brought up in Jordan), and 5 foreign nationals, 3 of them here illegally, count as "home grown" anything?
One day I followed a motorcyclist up to the gate at Schriever, which is out on the prairie in the middle of nowhere. The sole guard was on the phone, and therefore wasn't visible to approaching motorists. The motorcyclist, not seeing him, proceeded through the gate. The guard was out in a flash, calling in a an alert on his radio while a heavy steel barrier rose up out of the road in front of the motorcyclist. Military police cars came flying from the base, and the motorcyclist (fortunately in uniform) was doing some very chagrined aplogizing as the gate guard eyed me sternly and let me pass.
Civilian gate guards have been hired in many cases to take up some of the workload caused by greatly expanded security measures, and they're all armed.
“Honestly. You couldn’t even make up something like this, could you...? ;)”
You’re right. Their comments are always so unbelievable and always so stupid. Very depressing to know that people like that actually exist. They have no clue as to what is really happening in this world.
Just marched into court one by one...confirmed ALL here illegally facing life sentences...three of them are brothers...BTW Albanians named mohhamed?!
Detained until hearing on Friday-prelim on 5/22
~still awaiting press conference
American Quilter gave a great description of how hard it is to get through a gate on Army installations now.
Trouble is, once you get past them by, say, crawling under a barbed wire fence on the backside of the post, you are in a target rich environment. Military and civilian personnel working on base, as well as those families living in housing, are all unarmed.
The weapons are locked up in arms rooms in barracks, and the ammunition is stored in bunkers half-way across post from the weapons.
The MPs will eventually get to a shooter, but they are the only ones armed and response time will vary anywhere from 30 seconds to 10-15 minutes depending upon the location of the shooters and the nearest MP unit.
