Terror Arrests in Fort Dix Plot FORT DIX, N.J.
May 8, 2007 - Six ethnic Albanians have been arrested in a plot to storm the Fort Dix installation in Burlington County.
Five of the suspects were arrested in Cherry Hill. They will be arraigned later today in federal court. Officials say it will happen in either in Camden or Newark.
Investigators say the suspects planned to use automatic weapons to storm the base and kill solders. The men were lured into a secret meeting to purchase AK-47s from an arms dealer, who was secretly cooperating with the FBI.
Officials say the suspects worked on a number of targets, including the Dover Air Force Base in Delaware, Fort Monmouth in Eatontown, and several Coast Guard stations.
Federal agents made the arrests when the suspects zeroed in on Fort Dix.
Officials say some of the suspects were caught on tape.

A tip helped authorities arrest six New Jersey men Monday night in connection to an apparent terror cell, according to NBC 10’s sister station WNBC in New York.
Five of them were arrested in Cherry Hill, according to reports.
Investigators said the men planned to use AK-47s to storm Fort Dix and open fire on soldiers and civilians stationed at the New Jersey base, noting that other military locations were scouted by the terrorist cell.
Three of the unnamed suspects are brothers who are all believed to be Islamic radicals, according to sources. Some of the six arrested men were also born in Albania and the former Yugoslavia, but they have spent a significant amount of time in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, according to authorities.

The terror suspects traveled over the last several months from New Jersey to the Poconos where they practiced firing automatic weapons, investigators said.
Investigators said the group discussed targeting numerous locations like Dover Air base, Fort Monmouth and several Coast Guard stations before deciding on Fort Dix as their intended target. Fort Dix is run in part by the Army and is a reserve-training center, but active units take part in training, including some which focuses on counter-terrorism....

I often camp and raft just north of Port Jervis, and have always had pleasant interactions with the residents I've had contact with. Are there bad sections of town away from the one main drag?

The only address for the mosque mentioned in the article is Pernia Blvd, Cherry Hill. Google doesn’t seem to recognize it so I can’t link to it. It’s a tiny street, off the Route 70 (East) exit of Route 295; it’s between the Burger King and the big Commerce bank building where there’s an annual Christmas light display. (The building is either the HDQ or administrative offices for Commerce, although it’s also a branch building.) The Cherry Hill Public Works/Twp garage is also down that road. (Another amusing point—that garage will accept used car batteries and waste motor oil.)
I’m sure the employees were on alert for this type of thing.

Thank you. I heard this on the news and it is "amazing" that no link to Al Quada exists and no mention of their religion. I knew I would found out on FR and I did within the first 10 posts. I had to laugh out loud when it was reported that there was no link to Al Quada but they had been watching jihadists videos by Osama bin Laden.
Ah, now this report is cleaner. No mentions of 'Albanian' or 'ethnic' or 'Muslim.' By 5 O'Clock they ought to be able to write this story up without using the word 'terror.'

I visit Ft. Dix/McGuire frequently. They are armed.
On the other hand...such a brazen and obviously suicidal attack would work wonders for the islamofacists. It would show that they think so lowly of US power that they can attack a military base in the US!!! How little they fear from us and rightly so...
