Terror Arrests in Fort Dix Plot FORT DIX, N.J.
May 8, 2007 - Six ethnic Albanians have been arrested in a plot to storm the Fort Dix installation in Burlington County.
Five of the suspects were arrested in Cherry Hill. They will be arraigned later today in federal court. Officials say it will happen in either in Camden or Newark.
Investigators say the suspects planned to use automatic weapons to storm the base and kill solders. The men were lured into a secret meeting to purchase AK-47s from an arms dealer, who was secretly cooperating with the FBI.
Officials say the suspects worked on a number of targets, including the Dover Air Force Base in Delaware, Fort Monmouth in Eatontown, and several Coast Guard stations.
Federal agents made the arrests when the suspects zeroed in on Fort Dix.
Officials say some of the suspects were caught on tape.

A tip helped authorities arrest six New Jersey men Monday night in connection to an apparent terror cell, according to NBC 10s sister station WNBC in New York.
Five of them were arrested in Cherry Hill, according to reports.
Investigators said the men planned to use AK-47s to storm Fort Dix and open fire on soldiers and civilians stationed at the New Jersey base, noting that other military locations were scouted by the terrorist cell.
Three of the unnamed suspects are brothers who are all believed to be Islamic radicals, according to sources. Some of the six arrested men were also born in Albania and the former Yugoslavia, but they have spent a significant amount of time in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, according to authorities.

NEW YORK -- Six men from New Jersey have been arrested in an alleged terror plot against soldiers at Fort Dix, according investigators.
Investigators said the men planned to use automatic weapons to enter Fort Dix and kill as many soldiers as they could at the N.J. base. Fort Dix was just one of several military and security locations allegedly scouted by this group, authorities said.
Investigators told Newschannel 4's Jonathan Dienst that these arrests are the result of a tip to the FBI and use of an informant to track the suspects. The terror suspects traveled over the last several months from New Jersey to the Poconos where they practiced firing automatic weapons, investigators said.
Investigators said the group discussed targeting numerous locations like Dover Air base, Fort Monmouth and several Coast Guard stations before deciding on Fort Dix as their intended target. Fort Dix is run in part by the Army and is a reserve-training center, but active units take part in training, including some which focuses on counter-terrorism....
I don’t understand. Send people away from the base?
“Not terrorist related.” That’s insane. Or inane. Or both.
I think they were originally describing it as “home grown,”
referring to the fact that it was not organized from outside the country but by these guys right here in the Poconos. But that’s a far cry from “not terrorist related.” Not AQ related perhaps, but definitely terrorism.

The six were scheduled to appear in U.S. District Court in Camden later today (announced now for 1:00pm) to face charges of conspiracy to kill U.S. servicemen, said Michael Drewniak, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorneys Office in New Jersey.
Five of them lived in Cherry Hill, about 10 miles east of Philadelphia and 20 miles southwest of Fort Dix, he said.
A law enforcement official, speaking on condition of anonymity because documents in the case remain sealed, said the attack was stopped in the planning stages.
The men were arrested while trying to buy automatic weapons in a sale set-up by law enforcement authorities, the official said. Authorities believe the men trained for the attack in the Pocono and allegedly conducted surveillance at other area military institutions, including the Armys Fort Monmouth, the official said.
I don’t think you can buy anything in NJ for that amount unless its in an area you wouldn’t dare live in.
The FBI arrested five people in Cherry Hill and one in Pennsylvania last night for an alleged plot to kill soldiers at Fort Dix, three federal officials said.
Some of the six men, who are believed to be from Albania or other Balkan countries, tried to purchase automatic weapons from a local gun dealer, sources said.
Greg Reinhert, a Justice Department spokesman in Camden, described the six as “Islamic radicals ... who were involved in a plot to kill U.S. soldiers at Fort Dix in New Jersey.”
“Their alleged intention was to conduct an armed assault on the army base and to kill as many soldiers as possible,” he said.
“These guys were absolutely serious,” another official said.
Carolee Nisbet, a public information officer at Fort Dix, said: “I understand that they weren’t just targeting Fort Dix, that it was a multiple-base plan to attack several bases in the Northeast.” She declined to elaborate.
At the base this morning, Nisbet said: “They are going to make the security procedures more stringent, but we’re not going to increase the threat level. We are just going to make people more aware of their surroundings.
WNBC-TV in New York reports that three of the men are brothers, and have lived in the United States for several years.
All six men are expected to be arraigned in federal court in Camden today, according to Reinert.
Fort Dix is a 13,400-acre military post near Exit 7 of the New Jersey Turnpike in Burlington County. On an average day, there are about 15,000 to 16,000 soliders and civilians. It is a regional reserve and mobilization site, the largest such site in the country.
The FBI and immigration officials are expected to hold a news conference at about 2:30 this afternoon.
“Albania and the former Yugoslavia”
Odd that they don’t say ‘KOSOVO’ here instead of former Yugoslavia.
ABC Newspeak: "a Saudi"
ABC Newspeak: "a Saudi"
Well I don’t see how he can. Do you?
“not AQ perhaps”.
Perhaps, but there is no reason to believe that AQ’s recruiting habits stop at our borders; nothing else does.
Does anyone watch CNN anymore, besides us righties who just want to be reminded of how bad they are and then leave?
If you haven't seen this yet: A campaign by active-duty troops asking Congress to drop plans for a withdrawal from Iraq. Lt. Jason Nichols, a 33-year-old naval projects officer who has been in Baghdad since mid-January, said the goal is to keep lawmakers focused on letting the military finish its mission in Iraq, and not prematurely declare failure

I graduated Basic from Dix. Then flew from McGuire to my first duty station in Augsburg, GE.
I don’t recall much of it except lots and lots of sand. Mostly down my underwear :-)
There’s the Marine air museum in Miramar which is free and open to the public.
Makes me think of the Hillary Clinton visit.
Wonder if that was related.
Think of the sympathy spin vote that can be obtained from the car accident.
Nothing like the MSM’s code words for Islamofascist Terrorists: Ethnic Albanians and Serbians.
Here in California, immigrants is the code word for illegal aliens.
Nation wide: Peace activists is code for anti America street thugs.
My guess is the mob snitched them out.
Agree. And we pay for their presence in soooo many ways!
You’re right pandouraou, I am too. Unfortunately, somewhere along the line we’ve crossed the line between “spin”, which the media has done for some time, and deliberately reporting falsehoods and or withholding information to manipulate society. That’s propaganda. A lot of people on FR have escaped the matrix in that regard, but a lot of people out there haven’t.
