Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?
vanity | April 21, 2007 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 04/21/2007 6:42:25 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.

One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to “rule” over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.

All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.

FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?

Do you really expect me to do that?

I was going to post this on a recent opus thread, but it was locked before I could hit the post button...
Why, pray tell, should Jim support a flaming liberal like Rudy Giuliani? Why should he tolerate posters on his site who promote views that are 180° out of phase with his own? Jim has posted a mission statement for the site. It lists conservatism's goals and objectives. Giuliani has not supported any of those stated goals in any of his public statements or in any of his actions while in office. Furthermore, I have seen "conservatives" on this site supporting outrageously liberal points of view in their zeal to support Giuliani. (I actually saw one poster, and not a n00b at that, praising New York City's gun laws!)

This is Jim's site and it is an expression of his vision of what conservatism ought to be. The rest of us are posting here because we agree with that vision. We don't agree on all points, that would be impossible, but we share a core set of beliefs. Giuliani doesn't share that set of core beliefs with us. Many of his supporters on this forum used to share those beliefs. They jettisoned those beliefs in their mania to support Giuliani. The more disruptive members of that group have, understandably, been shown the door.

Come on...I'll even put on a brown-colored shirt and you can call me a Nazi and stuff if you want.

Now, now, that might just play into Al's fantasies. You're too old for that.

My order:

God

The sacredness of life

Doing the right thing, even when I don’t want to (and a lot of times I don’t and lot of times I fail)

Shedding the light where I am called (being nice, responding to the call to help, trying to make something work).

The direction of my nation

The safety of my family

My safety.

That’s pretty much how I see it. Like I said, we have to see what we believe in, and order our priorities accordingly.

You mean they might just be kinda pro-life?

That made me laugh. I love how Rudy's 'conservative' supporters have switched to liberal terms to describe Rudy. Hillary has always been called pro-abortion around here, but they call their boy pro-choice. I mean really have you seen one of his supporters say, 'Yes, Rudy is pro-abortion.' I've seen them call Rudy pro-choice, a little pro-choice, and more pro-life than pro-choice. It's crazy. The man is pro-abortion, they should just own up to it and quit trying to make excuses for him on that issue.

How do you think Rudy is going to make us safer from Terrorists? By leaving the borders open? By disarming the populace?

Or will he just run around standing on piles of rubble rallying the troops after the latest set of bombings?

No thanks... We have better options.

Duncan Hunter. Ron Paul. Fred Thompson. Any two of which would make an unbeatable ticket for '08.

And it was NOT because conservatives didn’t turn out, but because a lot of “middle” or “indies” voted the other way.

Right. Because corrupt RINOs had destroyed the brand.

It is well documented that the liberals and the liberal media went after Rudy. In fact, Dennis Miller talks about it as the catalyst for his conversion into the Republican camp. He said all he heard from his liberal friends was what a Nazi Guiliani was. He said their hysteria was beyond belief. And then, when he actually went to NY and saw the change, it was then he realized just how over the top the liberal movement was. I’m just reporting. In this case, you’re wrong...and I won’t debate it.

I have to think how ironic irony is to see some of those names being banned while Mojo can linger around. Dark humor.

His bitching about certain topics being posted in the news forum is unintentionally hilarious. He's worth having around.

1) Right now---and yes, I'm a gun owner---Rudy "grabbing my gun" is the least of my worries.

Moreover, the likelihood of an AQ attack in such a way that I, with my shotgun, can affect the outcome is just silly. The next attack won't leave any room for guns. It will be big.

2) I disagree. I listened to the speeches at C-PAC and wasn't at all impressed with Romney's ability to fight the WoT. McCain is too crazy---truly a Dr. Strangelove. Hunter and Brownback don't stand a chance in Hades, so there is really no sense talking about them. So it's really Rudy, Romney, or if they choose to run, Fred or Newt. But they haven't yet.

Slander people however you want.

You mean because I said "You mean they might just be kinda pro-life?", sorry thats how it looks to me. Prolife, but not enough to change the way a person does anything.

Prolife people believe babies are being murdered, don't you understand what that means? It's not just a word, we actually believe real humans are dying.

Here in OH, our two pro-life candidates got KILLED in 2006, which meant a heckuva lot of pro-lifers didn't vote for them but voted for the other guys.

Not sure who you are talking about but in Idaho people want the "real deal" , the "whole package". We want pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro property rights, tax cutting, Constitution respecting back boned conservatives. Not some mamby pamby guy who goes along to get along , who says he is pro-life.

People all over the country were sick of these types, but unfortunately some good conservatives got caught in the middle.

We did not lose because of our values, we lost because those in office compromised our values.

I am happy to report that wave stopped at the borders in Idaho, and we elected the greatest conservatives.

I’ve never said that. In fact, I got BLASTED here on FR because I kept saying on election day we would win because everything I saw in my canvassing said the conservatives would turn out. They did, but the indies and middle-of-the-roaders did too, and didn’t vote with us.

Just goes to show that Rudy boosters such as Al have a grossly-exaggerated sense of self-worth. And conservativism, for that matter.

The central plank of the Rudy platform is that he's the only one who can defeat Hillary. What happens to the Giuliani candidacy when Hillary doesn't capture the Dem nomination?

I respect Giuliani for his work as prosecutor and mayor, but that doesn't mean I'm ready to pull the lever for him in light of his stances on other issues. If he is the Republican nominee, then I'll most likely vote for him over the Democrat. That's still almost 18 months away, though.

Hillary got into the battle waaaayyyyy too early, and Clinton fatigue is setting in, as evidenced by the increase in her negatives. She should have waited until October/November, but now her base of individual donors is maxed out, and the blacks are getting on board with Obama.

He's getting publicity, yes. Is he running? Not yet, and I am beginning to seriously doubt he will want to step into this mess.

Have you been keeping up on the recent pieces he's been writing? People without an intention of running do not write articles like his.
