We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.
One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to rule over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.
All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.
FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?
Do you really expect me to do that?
“It seems that I was away from my computer for twenty four hours and Jim Robinson posted his best defense of conservatism EVER!”
I wouldn’t go so far as to say that. It was a good post, and I like the fact that we finally have an idea of what is meant by “conservative” on FR.
The side effect of this thread has been the large number of zots and suicides by mod. Some long time posters.
Booyah!
You are a good gpapa and a smart one too!
Please notify me via FReepmail if you would like to be added to or taken off the Catholic Discussion Ping List.
Well, you’re wrong. I was a California Republican from a young teen until I moved to GA five years ago.
I knew MANY totally pro-life women. Maybe you should figure out how many of those women were encouraged or forced to get abortions by a “Republican” “man”. Your numbers are ridiculous, because men can’t get abortions.
No, it is not my point to say people are, or are not, patriotic or don't believe in God. Perhaps there are those who disagree with the positions put forward that would realize there are divergences with patriotism and with belief in God.
If so, so be it.
I guess it wasn’t really a good idea after all.
Well that puts it in a stark contrast, and pretty says it all doesn’t it?
RINO he is, the cross dressing thing does not help either.
Sorry JJ - mods said “no thanks” ;’{
In your case with Rudy, you're a twue conservative.
Oh well.
Place Mark......
Dancing upon a FReeper's grave makes you giddy...
especially because your inbox is overflowing with laughter.
You do not speak for conservatives.
Your twisted glee (e.g. "ADIOS TWIT!", "Go screw yourself, you little twit,""dont let the cat cover you up when you head back to your sandbox", and "you can follow Miss Katie right on out the door bucko") sanctioned by FReepmail ballot LOLs does not make your behavior appropriate or conservative. Nor does it resemble anything Christ-like. Hypocrisy such as yours is defenseless for a conservative, and in the eyes of God.
As far as the majority of women getting abortions being, or rather identifying themselves as, *Chrisitian*, so what? Are we talking the twice a yearers? Those who claim Christianity because they're not muslim or atheist or because they were raised in some church and have nothing else to put down? A woman who was a real Christian wouldn't abort murder her own child.
You don't know and your statistics don't support your contention.
:-)
Wow, I’m less than 600 posts behind now.....
Pro Life Catholic Woman pings....
and I raise you one pro life Catholic boy
Although granting him all due respect for his efforts of and after 9-11, I’ve been searching elsewhere past Rudy, McCain and the others for a primary candidate to back.
Hopefully Thompson will be that candidate, I like most of what I’ve read on his positions and stances. However, until he declares a candidacy, and actually wins the nomination I’m not shutting the door on consideration of any republican nominee.
Would I hold my nose and vote Rudy or even McCain...I’m still deciding that one. I’ve had it drummed into me since childhood about the responsibility of voting, so I don’t believe I’d sit out any election especially one so important. Would I be happy about holding my nose...certainly not. I too, am darned tired of that. But I won’t discount that possibility or necessity, especially at this early juncture.
That’s where I stand at this point. We’ve lost some very good freepers over all this, and I will miss many of them especially Peach.
I trust my current stance won’t be viewed as contrary to the purpose of the site where I’ve considered myself a guest for all these...yikes, five going on six years now.
But that decision is ultimately yours Jim.
