FOX News Poll: Voters Most Comfortable With Rudy Giuliani as President

More voters say they would be comfortable with former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani as president than other top 2008 contenders, though majorities would also be comfortable with other leaders from both parties, according to the latest FOX News Poll. In addition, of all the 2008 hopefuls — announced or frequently mentioned as a possibility — voters want to hear more from one candidate specifically: Illinois Sen. Barack Obama.

Opinion Dynamics Corporation conducted the national telephone poll of 900 registered voters for FOX News from January 30 to January 31. The poll has a 3-point error margin.

Amnesty for Illegal Aliens....(Giuliani) Supports---GOP Platform...Opposes

That is pretty hilarious that you state the "GOP Platform" opposes amnesty, when the party's leader (Bush) supports it.

The link has no data to show the trend during Giuliani's term.

The link you named (-Not exactly.- ) brought you to search results allowing you to choose the thread of your choice detailing Abortion in NYC.

The data interpretation for 2000 alone, which was the quote I provided along with the source, showed the trend towards the end of his term: going up. "Abortion Capital of America" is the title of the story. Don't accuse me of falsifying statistics that I neither interpreted nor created. I merely passed them on to rebut your simple statement that abortion went down while he was mayor.

But I understand. It's a no-win situation on these threads: post info, (even factual biographical information about Rudy), and you must have it sourced or it's spam/lies/jealousy. Post sourced info and well, you're lying about what it says, even when you didn't actually interject your own words into the mix.

Ping to RM and Spiff because they posted similar info on this exact same topic.

It's not funny. It's sad.

Bush's immigration policies and views are more in line with the Democrat Party Platform than the Republican Party Platform. I learned this when I was researching both platforms to make the case against Giuliani.

In a thread a few days ago, I posted a Party Platform plank on illegal immigration and asked the biggest Rudy-Rooter on this forum to tell me if that was Giuliani's position. She said "Yes" and posted a quote from Giuliani that echoed the Party Platform excerpt that I'd posted. Then I revealed that the Party Platform that I was excerpting was the DEMOCRAT Party Platform. The sound heard after that was a dozen Rudy-Rooter Rats scurrying away from that post.

The bottom line is that Bush and Giuliani hold immigration views that are counter to the majority of Republicans, to most congressional Republicans, and to the Party Platform.

I still don't see that it supports your position that abortions under Giullian went down.

I said abortions went down. You said "Not exactly" and provided a link. I thought you were providing the link to show that abortions did not go down. Sorry. You were just using that old trick to provide a link hoping that most would just take your words "Not exactly" at face value and never go to the link and see the disconnect between your words and the link's words.

Beg pardon?

I'm not sure what kind of tactic this is. It's a pretty pathetic one if people actually use it. I'd never post a link I didn't want people to click on and go read. I did provide 2 links: one to search results for the stories on Abortions in NYC. Mostly because I was trying to show this topic had been discussed on FR before. The second link was to that article specifically, and I included an excerpt about the data from 2000, which as you remember stated "the last year for which good data are available". I used that excerpt because it applied to a year at the end of his term as mayor which spanned from 94 to '01. If you honestly think I was trying to chalk up all the abortions in NYC over 30 years and saddle them on Rudy's back, well... sorry but that's pretty amusing. Who have you been squabbling with, preschoolers?

Later in that same article it states this:

Over the past twenty years, while legislatures have circumscribed access to abortion in state after state, especially for the poor and the young, New York has remained an island of unrestricted abortion rights. Medicaid pays for abortions for low-income women. Teenagers don’t need a parent’s permission to have an abortion. There are no 24-hour waiting periods. Thirty-four major clinics in New York City each perform more than 400 abortions per year.

New York becomes more pro-choice every year. After years of electoral free fall, the New York Right to Life Party failed to win enough votes in 2002 to stay on the ballot. The party doesn’t even have a Website anymore. The New York Right to Life Committee, which founded the national anti-abortion movement in 1967, hasn’t had a legislative victory in years. No pro-life candidate can win statewide office in New York. Ambitious Republicans climbing toward the governor’s mansion, like George Pataki, and now John Faso, hastily ditch their pro-life pasts. New York City’s mayor is one of the most pro-choice politicians in the country.

In short, New York is the abortion capital of America.

Oh stop it. I voted for Reagan for governor of California and all elections thereafter.

This more-conservative-than-thou posturing is getting old.

Who said I am supporting Duncan Hunter? I haven't made up my mind yet. There is alot of time. But FR is supposed to be a site to promote conservatives. Thats what I am here for.

Nice long post but does nothing to support your "Not exactly" response to abortion going down under Giillani.

There is no 1994 data. No way to show a trend over G's term.

Open your eyes.

I responded [#293] to your last post to me at #285. Most of the candidates running have dirty laundry and excess baggage. Your post at #282 is not relevent.

Rudy is for strict constructionist judges and has praised the President for appointing Roberts and Alito.

Seriously, we no long have the numbers.

I'm not ready to give up that easy. I think if we can get a good candidate we can fire them up again.

Ross, you need to open yours, or read more clearly what you have written. First off, you are supporting Newt, who clearly, having had three wives, has baggage. Secondly, you're saying we can't have any discussion about Rudy, because he does not pass your conservative litmus test. With Mr. Gingrich's track record on marriage, I think his being pushed as a social conservative who embraces Christian values is totally relevant.

Your statement makes a great deal of sense, as long as said president of the U.S. was a man. If a woman is elected, she had better wear women's clothes.

Even Hitlery Clinton who often looks like a case of bad male to female drag in her usual attire.

If Rudy believes in abortion rights and gay marriage as he says, then how can he in good conscience appoint strict constructionists.

Went back over our exchanges on this thread. From the get go you said you supported Rudy over Hillary. Fine. I pointed out that Spiff`s chart is on the money and by supporting Rudy you're supporting a liberal. That's a fact. Then you brought up Ronald Reagan, Rock Hudson and Ross Perot. Why? That is unknown. Then you said, I haven't made any decision... An obvious flip flip, since you do support Rudy. I then listed the top vote getters among Freepers. You then attacked Newt. Okay. Whatever turns you on. Like I said, none of candidates are perfect. Right now, I support no one. Its early. When I make my decision on who to support in 2008, if you like I'll send you a FReepMail. You can debate Rudy all you like. Just be prepared. You'll be challenged with the facts on Rudy`s liberal record at every turn.

You clearly meant to obfuscate the debate. All you accomplished in the process was to confuse yourself. Carry on.
