Two and a half years ago I predicted George W Bush's victory in the 2004 elections as well as the subsequent ruin of his political fortune. "Many will be the night during his second term," I wrote in August 2004, "that Bush will wish he were still in Texas, and still drunk." [1]
Here is a follow-on forecast: brother Jeb, about to step down as governor of the state of Florida, will be elected president of the United States in 2008, thanks in large measure to the rebound ofthe current president's standing. In fact, I have no idea whether this will occur. But I raise the prospect to show why it could occur.

I've yet to hear from the poster who claimed there were.
I strongly second that. We don't need another Bush anymore than we need another another Clinton.
"A period of re-buiding and re-organization. The question is not if but how this will be done. And I say do it in a way that preserves our country, not destroys it."
Sounds downright socialist. Look the laws of economics are tough to change. If someone else can do the job I need done cheaper than you and if the quality is there, you is out of a job. Period. No socialists will try and erect walls of protection but they don't work too. Funny thing them walls, other countries can build em too. And in 1929 had a bunch of walls up around the world after a couple of well meaning nationalist idiots Taft and Hartley did their thang. I prefer a little immigration problem to selling apples from a cart. Or dying in a major war to right the economic imbalance through force of arms.
LOL.
Not much precedent for press secretaries taking over as commander in chief. A bit of a difference in the required skillsets, doncha think?
Congressman from San Diego-the ONLY Reagan conservative in the race. I'm hopoing he makes it to the first debates-He'll take off like a rocket after that.
No=Now as in "Now socialists will try and erect walls."
Same question. The poll on the forum window (terminology?) seems to suggest that Duncan Hunter is some famous guy that should be a household name.
No more Bushes or Clintons. That would work for me. We need a break from these two dueling dynasties. McCain and Kerry should go away as well.
"I WOULD vote third party in that sitation, as I will not vote for any dynastic candidate ever again."
Amen, brother. I'm sick of "political families". May as well be royals (which far too many Americans are interested in).
Is Jeb Bush redundant? Isn't Jeb an acronym, with the 'b' for Bush?
"If Dubya had never been President, I would have been PROUD to vote Jeb into the Oval Office.
But now? Never."
Well said.
I would vote for him.
Plenty.
Jeb could be the second coming of Ronald Reagan and I would not vote for him. GWB has been a huge disappointment. Never, never, never. I will vote Green Party before I vote for another Bush.
Also, back to trisham's apparent idea that FR is devoid of racists, who exactly do you think posted all those comments which were removed on race-based threads; and what exactly do you think were the contents of those posted that got them deleted? (both rhetorical). Freepers had to have posted them, and they weren't necessarily banned from FR. Whether they were a one day freeper or an established one, they are still freepers who are racist. And another question for you: can you find one freeper beside yourself who thinks that there are no racist freepers? (not rhetorical). If you can, and especially if you can find many, then that's sort of disturbing.
There's a lot more to Sheriff Joe than pink underwear. He's tough and that's what I want.
