Al-Nueimi said U.S. authorities were maintaining physical custody of Saddam to prevent him from being humiliated before his execution. He said the Americans also want to prevent the mutilation of his corpse, as has happened to other deposed Iraqi leaders.

"The Americans want him to be hanged respectfully," al-Nueimi said. If Saddam is humiliated publicly or his corpse ill-treated "that could cause an uprising and the Americans would be blamed," he said.



Blame me. I can take it. He should hang in a public square in Bagdad until his body is in shreds. There is no respect for tyrants.

I'm really too young to know that much about Ford. However, we did tour his library in Grand Rapids a few years ago. Unfortunately there were several things he and his wife supported that would not have settled well with me. Other than that I would have to say I have no strong feelings one way or the other about him. He seemed like a decent person and President.

So I've heard. He probably doesn't want her to remember him like that. If she doesn't see it, deep down, she won't really believe it. Bastrich might have one or two human cells, after all.

Didn't Saddam have her husband killed after tricking him to come back to Iraq (the husband had been hiding out with the daughter after trying to off Saddam or something).

Saddam spared the daughters (there were two of them involved in this little adventure) but tricked the sons-in-law into coming back where he personally put bullets into their heads.

Maybe the daughter was coming back to off her old man before the Iraqi government could.
