Washington Senator John Kerry issued the following statement in response to White House Press Secretary Tony Snow, assorted right wing nut-jobs, and right wing talk show hosts desperately distorting Kerrys comments about President Bush to divert attention from their disastrous record:
If anyone thinks a veteran would criticize the more than 140,000 heroes serving in Iraq and not the president who got us stuck there, they're crazy. This is the classic G.O.P. playbook. Im sick and tired of these despicable Republican attacks that always seem to come from those who never can be found to serve in war, but love to attack those who did.
Im not going to be lectured by a stuffed suit White House mouthpiece standing behind a podium, or doughy Rush Limbaugh, who no doubt today will take a break from belittling Michael J. Foxs Parkinsons disease to start lying about me just as they have lied about Iraq. It disgusts me that these Republican hacks, who have never worn the uniform of our country lie and distort so blatantly and carelessly about those who have.
The people who owe our troops an apology are George W. Bush and Dick Cheney who misled America into war and have given us a Katrina foreign policy that has betrayed our ideals, killed and maimed our soldiers, and widened the terrorist threat instead of defeating it. These Republicans are afraid to debate veterans who live and breathe the concerns of our troops, not the empty slogans of an Administration that sent our brave troops to war without body armor.
Bottom line, these Republicans want to debate straw men because theyre afraid to debate real men. And this time it wont work because were going to stay in their face with the truth and deny them even a sliver of light for their distortions. No Democrat will be bullied by an administration that has a cut and run policy in Afghanistan and a stand still and lose strategy in Iraq.
Here is the transcript of F'n mocking the American fighting man. This should be in a television commercial in every close House and Senate race.
"You know education, if you make the most of it and you study hard and you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq."
I'm seriously beginning to think it's not 'Terrrayyyzza' who's the crazy one here ....
Think I'll send a little love note.
Exactly.
I hope he keeps talking, spinning, lying and distorting, right up until election day.
Limbaugh just said he has the link to the video up on his Web site.
Tony Snow randomly distorted, razed John Kerry's statements in a fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan.
The excuse won't wash, but it's gonna take a firestorm for the MSM to cover this or even truthfully present the original Kerry tape. To date, there is nothing on the MSNBC or FOX web sites.
MSM in full cover-up mode, because they know full well that this story could sink the RATS next week, coast to coast.
"I think what he was implying was Bush was not smart and ended up in Iraq."
I don't think he meant that at all. I think he meant just what he said- just like all elites he has disdain for the military and can't understand why anyone would serve. Remember, the only reason he joined was that he thought he was about to be drafted.
I noted earlier in another thread that there was NOTHING on the DU about the remarks Kerry made, HOWEVER, this is a pretty big thread on his response...wanna see insanity at it's worst??

I'm trying to be sensible here but this Kerry quote, folks it bought tears to my eyes.
I have a grandson getting close to military age. Whatever his choice, know that I could never be less prideful should he choose the uniform of his country and serve it so bravely or strive for physician status.
For Kerry to have said what he said, I'm perfectly serious, I felt the pain those prideful and hopeful troops might feel when they hear about it. What a very mean slap in the face. A slap in the face to the best this country has to offer.
Ladies and gems, it's the Middle Class who supplies the soldiers to defend this country. Get it? The Middle Class, that great body of people who carry this country on their backs while struggling to raise the next generation of citizens and soldiers. In other words, it's US!
Sure we're just average schlubs, not blue-blooded like the great John F. Kerry. We obey the laws, we don't riot over cartoons, we work jobs and we keep this country neat and clean out here in la-la land. No country ever succeeds without a mighty but mostly productive Middle Class.
And here this man just reached out and slapped every one of us in the face. Slapped us and haughtily reminded us that we but a hoard of idiots existing to keep the likes of John Kerry and his ilk up at their proper social status as he sees it.
There is not enough anger in the universe as I feel for this despicable man and trying not to be too melodramatic, I apologize to our military right now for the words of this man. Not a single one of us carrying this country on our backs shares John Kerry's disdain. We admire our soldiers as it was US, America's mighty Middle Class, who supplied the soldiers. Our military will always be a source of our silly plebian pride and joy.
Hope some military guys see this.
So, basically, you're saying floaters and swimmers come from Massachusetts???
Infantile. Can't believe a US senator would issue a statement like this.
If those really are John Kerry's words, and not the work of some hacker---then Kerry has just Screamed louder than Howard Dean.
Better than looking like Lurch.
The want this to be a referendum on Pres. Bush. Let it be a referendum on Kerry, who is still Democrat Everyman.
There needs to be an immediate ad on this from the Repub's as EXHIBIT A of what the democrat's leader has to say and what they're thinking.
They think troops are stupid, and that Iraqi troops are especially stupid. And they think that stupid kids come from stupid Viet era parents.
Kerry is full of it. He is anti-military to the core. He only saw service as a launching pad to a political career. And he used his service as a launching pad to an anti-military campaign. The U.S. would have been much better off if he hadn't served in Vietnam.
Obviously his constituency are not serious people either.
God help us.
