Rush reports that a Cessna has been reported as crashing into (at least one) apartment complex in NYC Mannhattan's upper east side - on East 71st Street.
Poor NYer's. They have to go OUT at 5am to get a bagel when I can stay home and pop one into the toaster anytime.
LOL...but I'll reserve judgment until the FAA gets the tail numbers or serial numbers and find out the plane was/was not leased to a Saheeb Mohammad.
This islamist had a fondness for geometry, apparently. :O)

Well, yeah, doesn't seem like much of a day for a sightseeing trip, though. I guess what got me wondering is that, if the guy was VFR, he can't climb through those clouds, right? So he's stuck at 1500' or lower until the weather breaks. From what VERY little I know about aviation, that seems a bit low for a light twin, or at least uneconomical.
It's pretty pointless to speculate this early, I guess. Not that it ever stopped any of us before... :)

What I heard was that the FBI said there was no reason to believe it was terrorism, but they were investigating, per FOX. In other words, they just don't know yet. The kid who flew into a building in Tampa was trying to commit suicide as far as I know.

It's going to take more then a commuter plane crash to kill the Harry Reid land for money scandle. This was an accident and it won't have political rammifications.

NEW YORK --
A small plane crashed into a high-rise on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, raining down debris on the neighborhood and shooting giant flames out the windows, police said.
Christine Monaco, a New York spokeswoman for FBI, said there was no indication of terrorism in the crash, but that officials "have been sent to the scene as a routine." FAA spokesman Jim Peters said all three New York City-area airports are operating normally.
"The initial indication is that there is a terrible accident," said Department of Homeland Security spokesman Russ Knocke.
The aircraft struck the 20th floor of a building on East 72nd Street, said Fire Department spokeswoman Emily Rahimi. Witnesses said the crash caused a loud noise, and flames were seen shooting out of the windows.
