Duane 'Dog' Chapman Says Feds Sold Him Out to Mexico in Exchange for Drug Lord
Fox News ^ | 19 September 2006

Mexico - where bounty hunting is illegal - claims Chapman jumped bail after being charged with illegally detaining Luster in June 2003.

A new special about last week's arrest will air tonight (10 p.m.) on A&E.

Chapman, who is out on $300,000 bail, said on yesterday's "Today" show that if he goes to prison in Mexico, he will be killed by inmates avenging the thousands of fleeing felons he's brought to justice.

"I won't last two days," he said.

"President Bush better step in..after watching the A&E special..our government better get in there and help Dog and his family....NOW"

You don't really expect that, do you?

I hear you. We expected too much from this Administration. We expected things to change. We expected honesty, accountability, and justice.

Frankly, after Sandy Berger was let off for something an ordinary citizen would have been sent to the Federal pen for, I realized that nothing had really changed. The politicos are all on the same side - regardless of the internecine squabbles they might have from time to time. They certainly aren't on OUR side.

I've always wondered why Ashcroft resigned....

"You don't have to feel anything, but wait until it happens to someone you do have feelings for. "

Happened to my best friends daughter. National Merit Scholar. Now a recluse. Dog got wholesaled to Mexico by our perverse government. Where are you Ronald Reagan, our nation turns its lonely eyes to you.

Our side has been wholesaled to the highest bidder.

If Dog could go to Mexico and bring back a criminal.....our government couldn't covertly go in and get anyone they want? They couldn't send in an assassin and take out anyone they want? This just makes no sense.

LOL! Mr. Macho in black leather, turns yeller.

I've never witnesses any of the 'Dog' episodes where he is macho. Despite your charcterization of his dress, Chapman doesn't in any way act macho and he NEVER carries a weapon. That is not someone who is 'yeller'. Nearly all of the apprehensions have been non-violent, using street informants, pursuasion and local police cooperation.

IMO he does a lot of legwork and that gets the job done, something the local gendarmes probably don't have the motivation nor resources to do.

Chapman is an idiot, wanting to be a famewhore. Its hilarious that he got busted for the same thing he busts folk for.

Bread and circuses.

He is an 'idiot'? How exactly would you know that?

he got busted for the same thing he busts folk for.

As I stated in an earlier post, despite your schadenfreude, the story appears to be more complicated than that.

Duane 'Dog' Chapman Says Feds Sold Him Out to Mexico in Exchange for Drug Lord

That was my first thought, but then I thought it sounded too crazy. Maybe it's so crazy, it's true.

There are so many possible reasons for mexico wanting him back, all of which have corruption at their heart.

I have no doubt that the rapist he brought back was paying officials in mexico BIG BUCKS to keep him out of the US. I want to know just how many criminals walking around in mexico are currently wanted on major crime charges in the US, but mexico refuses to extradite them, while mexico wants Dog and Co, and the US (in)Justice Department immediately drops its collective pants and bends over!

Bad idea. You think Mexican jails are bad? Wait til Dog arrests Osama and hauls him back to the U.S. What do you think will happen to him when Attorney General Gonzalez sends him back to (fill in the blank) Pakistan, Syria or Iran to face trial for kidnapping Osama? Mexico is bad, but Islamic justice will kill you. Rusty knife will meet neck.

ATTENTION BOUNTY HUNTERS! WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT ARREST OSAMA IN MEXICO, PAKISTAN, SYRIA OR IRAN! The U.S. Government will roll over on you and send you back to face kidnapping charges like Dog is now facing in Mexico. NO GOOD DEED GOES UNPUNISHED. FYI

Dog is going about this all wrong.

First, he needs to go to a U.S. consulate and ask for asylum. Or maybe he can go to a Canadian consulate. He can claim that he is afraid that if he is extradited to Mexico that he will be subject to extortion and exploitation, torture, and execution.

Next, he needs to contact Senator McCain and demand that he write a bill in Congress to force foreign nations to guarantee that American Citizens in their jails will receive the treatment guaranteed to Islamic Terrorists at GiTMO.

Last, he needs to convince McCain that he was captured in battle in the War on Crime and that he escaped the enemy's prison camp and that he is entitled to protection under the Geneva conventions.

Can you believe it? They are going to appeal his bond!

And for a misdemeanor? I watched the A&E special last night and in 2003 when they were arrested Dog, Leeland and Tim were advised by a Mexican lawyer that nothing would happen, that they just should stay out of Mexico. Now just before the statute of limitations is set to run, they are arrested? Why now? What is all this commotion about misdemeanor charges? This really does fail the smell test.

"Well, unless they were Mexicans he brought to Mexican prisons, I doubt they care much about who he captured."

He's a celebrity, and ostensibly a 'law and order,' one at that. I'm sure there are any number of long term Mexican prisoners who would love to enhance their prison creds as the guy that killed Dog.

Just what are the consequences to the millions of law breaking Mexicans that are here?

I agree that they should be stiffer. Much stiffer.

I think all lawbreakers should be punished, even the ones with television shows.

Not because he is so great and all but just a average guy who is making a living honestly.

Except when he breaks the law.

IOW, you like his show, so he shouldn't have to face the consequences of his actions?

Uh scumbag luster is in a California prison right now. He is not on the beaches of Puerto Vallarta.

Guess you missed the back story on this one. Luster was hiding in Puerto Vallarta in plain sight. The Mexicans didn't lift one finger to return him. Enter Dog who does what the FBI and federales cannot - gets the scumball. He was bringing Luster back to justice when the Mexicans stopped them and arrested them all. Luster nearly talked his way out of it, since he speaks fluent Spanish and Dog, et al. do not. But, Dog kept saying Andrew Luster's name until they figured it out.

Think about it - here we have a dangerous predator who fled to Mexico to escape American justice, who was caught by Americans doing the job Mexicans won't do, and then returned to America. Absolutely nothing about this should involve the Mexicans. They didn't want to extradite a monster who was convicted of 86 counts of rape. Why should we extradite 3 men who are only charged with misdemeanors????

Uh they exradited the scumbag luster, who was living under an assumed name in Puerto Vallarta.

Yes I will admit, that some Mexican Judges toes were stepped on and that judge was probably mad that Chapman is a big star now and that Chapman skipped bail and thumbed his nose at him, but like I said all Chapman had to do was show up when he promised to and he wouldn't be in this current jam.

If anything he let America down by being so obstiante and making this an international brouhaha, probaly from the "advice" of his lethal weapon bottom wife, Beth, who by the way was calling the shots after his bail hearing.

When asked if he was fearful of being sent back to Mexico, Chapman responded, "No cause we won't go," but then added, "We go to get this right." As Chapman left the courthouse his wife Beth urged him to remain quiet and jostled with cameramen and reporters along the way to their SUV. However the star of the reality show did relay a message to his many fans, some who waited nearly all day for his release "Thank you very much for everybody that loves us," he said. "We love everybody -- thank you very much."

Oh BTW, what was the wife's(lethal weapon bottom) first phone call, when her husband was taken into custody, it wasn't to a lawyer, it was to Rita Cosby.
