This is being reported live on tv so has not yet made it on the website. Tremors have been felt in Central Florida.
If that baby ever pops again, you won't have to ask around on the web about it. You'll know.
I believe the nearest drilling activity of any kind to this earthquake is upwards of 200 miles away.
This is very, very, very, very deep water in the Southcentral Gulf of Mexico.
That is the Gulf of Mexico refilling itself with oil
well, I would imagine there are not many seismographs in the area to measure the aftershocks...since they are offshore.
I thinking the Gulf was just yawning from all the hurricane activity
So when do we get our free $2,000.00 FEMA checks?
"I live due north of the earthquake. I guess if there was going to be a tsunami, I would have died by now."
So do I. In Santa Rosa Beach here. Where abouts are you?
I haven't plotted against any industry maps, but you're surely right.
>> How the earthquake is felt depends alot on the kind of soil you're standing on at the time. <<
Also may depend on where you are in your house. We had a very mild tremor in Virginia a few years ago. I was napping upstairs and felt it. My wife was downstairs and didn't notice a thing. From what the experts on TV said, our experience was fairly typical.
Thanks for the link - I went there and filled out the survey.
Looking at the map plot of the responses, it appears that the heaviest tremors were felt in the Panhandle, near Panama City.
First things first. How's the Walmart looting going? Anything left?
ping
Ok. Wh0 reported they felt it in CC and Houston?:')
Yeah..guess that's true too. I just heard a big boom here..but now I can't decide if it's our afternoon thunderstorm coming or the complete and total end of the world:)
"I have no idea why we felt/heard it so much here when those closer didn't notice. Very strange."
maybe resonance???
From Dictionary Online: 4. Physics.
a. the state of a system in which an abnormally large vibration is produced in response to an external stimulus, occurring when the frequency of the stimulus is the same, or nearly the same, as the natural vibration frequency of the system.
Just checked the live TV thread to see what time it was when I woke up. (I am a day-sleeper.)
I woke briefly to see Georgie Porgey Stef on ABC, then drifted in and out and noticed Geo Will and a woman with Van Heuvel in her name.
That would've been in the early 10s, my time, or shortly after 9:56AM CDT. Didn't feel anything, but something could've waked me, since I had not been asleep long. We're in ozone alerts, which for me, with asthma, means I have "snow days." Can't go outside unless my hair is on fire.
The loss of Fort Meyers would be tragic because some of the best episodes of COPS were done there. Their criminals are masters at putting a new wrinkle in drugs, street fighting, and running from the cops after a minor traffic violation and no warrants.
I just saw this when I peeked out the window. That's a bad sign, isn't it?
LOLOLOL!!!! Too funny AnAmericanMother!!
