Hopefully, no oil or gas well was drilled through that fault plane. The quake would have severed the casing without a doubt.

I believe the nearest drilling activity of any kind to this earthquake is upwards of 200 miles away.

This is very, very, very, very deep water in the Southcentral Gulf of Mexico.
