NICOLE Kidman has made a public stand against terrorism.
The actress, joined by 84 other high-profile Hollywood stars, directors, studio bosses and media moguls, has taken out a powerfully-worded full page advertisement in today's Los Angeles Times newspaper.
It specifically targets "terrorist organisations" such as Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Palestine.
"We the undersigned are pained and devastated by the civilian casualties in Israel and Lebanon caused by terrorist actions initiated by terrorist organisations such as Hezbollah and Hamas," the ad reads.
"If we do not succeed in stopping terrorism around the world, chaos will rule and innocent people will continue to die.
"We need to support democratic societies and stop terrorism at all costs."
A who's who of Hollywood heavyweights joined Kidman on the ad.
The actors listed included: Michael Douglas, Dennis Hopper, Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis, Danny De Vito, Don Johnson, James Woods, Kelly Preston, Patricia Heaton and William Hurt.
Directors Ridley Scott, Tony Scott, Michael Mann, Dick Donner and Sam Raimi also signed their names.
Other Hollywood powerplayers supporting the ad included Sumner Redstone, the chairman and majority owner of Paramount Pictures, and billionaire mogul, Haim Saban.
Actually, what I've posted is nothing out of the ordinary when read in sequence. I believe in Israel. I DON'T believe in Hollywood. When Hollywood people speak I smell a RAT. It's that simple. Now I know who some of you are with a Hollywood agenda. Thanks for showing yourselves. I'll know what to expect next time.
as Marlon Brando put it before he passed, "the Jews control Hollywood",
they always have, nothing new about this one.

I don't know if Nicole ever got into the Scientology thing. I think I read that one reason for her breakup with Tom Cruise was that she wanted to raise their kids Catholic, and he wanted them raised Scientologists. Guess she won that argument!
It seems to me that people get frustrated with Hollywood for always pulling for the other side.
This once, they did the right thing. Why shouldn't we give credit where credit is due? If we don't how will they ever know we appreciate it? No one here thinks this has cosmic significance. They simply appreciate the sentiment.
Carp when they don't, then dismissing it when they do is behavior more closely aligned with leftist thinking.
I agree with you. But that isn't the way it is NOW. People who make progress trade in is, not should be.
I never suggested he was anti-Israel, did I ? I only thought he was not on the list because he had graduated from actordom to a high political office.

ROFLOL!!!
Out of the frying pan and into the oven! :(
re:178 agreed.
Since you're such a gracious Internet correspondent, I choose to keep my reply a secret.
I see this as being quite significant, so long as this sort of thing continues.
I'm constantly depressed and surprised (though I know I shouldn't be by now) at the number of people I talk to in my day to day life who have not one damn clue what is going on in the world. We truely are a celebrity-centric culture, with people paying more attention to who is dating who in Hollywood than goings-on in the world at large.
Hopefully, if numerous celebrities continue expressing the sorts of views put forth in this ad, the realization that we're under a grave threat will begin to seep into the public's consciousness. Perhaps people will begin to wake up and take things seriously...maybe even begin to prepare for the all out war I feel is inevitably coming.
Hopefully this isn't wishful thinking on my part. It's depressing that those who're most likely to be listened to in our society are actors and musicians, but there it is, and I'll take what I can get at this point.
Yeah, no one ever listens to Hollywood stars. That's why advertisers hate to use them to sell products.
There aren't enought cynical people in the world. (/sarcasm)
Tamar, you're hubby is right.....freckles ARE cute And I have no doubt that you're gorgeous! And be because you're a FReeper,I know you're smart as well...dang, I hate you! ;)
Absolutely. I often see posters lamenting the fact we aren't fighting the way we did in WWII. Well, this is a start in turning public opinion just like then. How much it matters, depends on how long it lasts.
But as far as I'm concerned, it's a good start. Like you, I'll take what I can get. We need to win this struggle....with the help of as many people as possible.
