Geneva Woman Shoots Intruder (AL: Armed granny!)

Police are looking for a man reportedly shot by a one-armed, 75-year-old Geneva County woman during a burglary attempt.
At around 11:00PM Wednesday night, Catherine Tate says her burglar alarm indicated someone trying to get inside her bait shop.
The business is next to her home.
Tate says she found a man trying to get inside and refused to stop.
She says her business has been broken into several times in the past.
"When I heard the office alarm I came and grabbed my flashlight and gun. Then I came and saw him by the door. I shot him with this, a 38-caliber gun. I hit him. Yeah, I know I hit him," said Tate.
The suspect is described as only a small framed black male around 150-pounds.
Authorities are checking area emergency rooms to see if anyone matching that description comes in with a bullet wound.

"Man sentenced for "botnet" attack on hospital, military installations"
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "SEATTLE -- A California man was sentenced Friday to three years in federal prison and three years of supervised release for creating a network of robot computers that compromised systems at U.S. military installations around the world and at a Seattle hospital and a California school district.
Christopher Maxwell, 21, of Vacaville, Calif., was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Marsha J. Pechman. He pleaded guilty in May to federal charges of conspiracy to intentionally cause damage to a protected computer and conspiracy to commit computer fraud.
Pechman said the crime showed "incredible self-centeredness" with little regard for the impact on others. She said the prison time was needed as "deterrence for all those youth out there who are squirreled away in their basements hacking.""

"Former Malaysian PM Mahathir Mohammad's Interview on U.K.'s Islam [TV] Channel by Yvonne Ridley: We Should Quietly Undermine the U.S. by Refusing to Use its Currency; Britain is a 3rd-Rate Power & Blair is a Poodle; Nasrallah Fights the Same Way for Same Reason as Bin Laden"
ARTICLES: "The following are excerpts from an interview with former Malaysian prime minister Mahathir Mohammad, which aired on the Islam Channel (U.K.), on August 23, 2006. The interviewer is former Sunday Express (U.K.) journalist Yvonne Ridley [1], who was captured by the Taliban in Afghanistan in 2001 and who converted to Islam after her release.
According to the Islam Channel, its vision is to present the "Islamic perspective" and act "as an interface between Muslims and non-Muslims to remove the misconceptions people have about Islam." The channel also intends to be "the world's choice among international broadcasters for authoritative and impartial Islamic information" and to target the English-speaking Muslim community in the U.K., which it states is 1.5 million in number. "FREEDOM TO TERRORIZE OR FREEDOM OF SPEECH?"

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "We sure are polite as we continue to march toward our graves, and of course we saw the last few weeks the amazing commitment to that polite walk to our deaths by District Judge Anna Diggs Taylor who ruled that the National Security Agencys wiretap program was unconstitutional and ordered it stopped. Of course the administration has plans to appeal the decision. Never mind that the Brits used exactly those same tactics forbidden us by the very polite Judge here to stop the major attack on 6-10 international flights. This judge must be severally traumatized at the obscene abuse of power and denial of liberty by the Brits. Wouldnt it be SO much more polite to have allowed those suspected of terrorism to walk and let 3-5000 flyers be blown into a million pieces? At least, no profiling would have been done or rude listening in on phone sessions. Think of the mental health torment the Brits have caused over there.
We currently have a nation that seems quite suicidal and horrified about doing what it might take to actually stay alive!"

N. Korea: A Seismic Event Detected Yesterday Afternoon(2.3 in Richter Scale)
Yesterday at 4:50 pm, there was a seismic event in N. Korea, registering 2.3 in Richter Scale, which prompted authorities to figure out its nature.
According to Korean Meteorological Administration, its source was found to be to the north north west of Yeonchon, Kyunggi Province, and 49km away(approx. 30 miles.) It is at the border area between Hwang-hae Province and Kangwon Province.
After analyzing the seismic wave of the event, Korean Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources reached the conclusion that it could be the result of routine demolition activity by setting off TNT underground

According to an update( http://news.kbs.co.kr/article/local/200608/20060826/1210266.html ),
it occurred near Pan-kyo, Kangwon Province, N. Korea,
the magnitude of explosion is equivalent to that of setting off two metric tons of TNT,
such explosions have been frequently detected near Pan-kyo recently.
IMHO, N. Koreans must be constructing an underground installation(a missile base?) inside hard rock formation.

What Did We Learn?
What did we learn from the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001?
OPINION: I have learned that more Americans love America than
the lame-stream media will ever let on.
I have learned that America's military is the finest in the world.
I have learned that many leos and alphabet agencies are doing
their utmost to stop terrorist attacks.
I have learned that our borders need to be secured now.
I have learned that more people hate Americans, Christians and Jews
than I could have ever guessed before 9/11.
I have learned that political correctness ranges from being a nuisance
to being dangerous and interferes with the war on terror.
I know that prayer is powerful.
Thank You God.
In Jesus' name.
Amen.
Well, that is what I have learned and that is what I know. -Cindy

"FBI: Dynamite found in luggage
Pennsylvania student not involved in terrorism, U.S. officials say"
Friday, August 25, 2006; Posted: 10:23 p.m. EDT (02:23 GMT)
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "(CNN) -- A college student was detained Friday after customs agents found what they suspected was dynamite in his checked luggage, but authorities said he was not involved in terrorism.
Authorities identified the man as Howard McFarland Fish, 21, a U.S. citizen from Connecticut. He was flying on Continental Airlines Flight 52 from Buenos Aires, Argentina, to Houston, Texas, which landed at 6 a.m. Friday, FBI spokeswoman Shauna Dunlap said."
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "The Associated Press reported the man attended LaFayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania."
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "In Buenos Aires, Marcelo Sain, head of Argentina's Airport Security Police, told local television that authorities found "a Coca-Cola bottle with mud, and inside it was a tube with ammonium nitrate, a little bit of dynamite and a detonator," according to Reuters.
In Houston, KTRK-13 quoted law enforcement sources as saying that the man had a blasting cap, a homemade fuse and a quarter-pound of ammonium nitrate, in addition to the dynamite.
Mark Mancuso, spokesman for the Houston Airport System, said he could not confirm the allegations but that "some additional items of contraband may have been found."
Two law enforcement sources told CNN that the additional items may have been bomb-making materials. The ICE statement said only that he had "prohibited explosive items."
The man was going through a "typical inspection" at George Bush Intercontinental Airport when the suspicious item was found, Mancuso said."

Explosives found in airline passenger's baggage
At approximately 6:30 a.m. CT today, Howard McFarland Fish, 21, a U.S. Citizen from Connecticut arrived at Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston on Continental Airlines Flight 52 from Buenos Aires, Argentina. While going through the customs process a Customs and Border Protection (CBP) K-9 singled out Fish's luggage for inspection. CBP officers inspected the bag and discovered prohibited explosive items. The FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force responded and determined that it was not an act of terrorism and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents took Fish into custody. ICE is currently consulting with the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Texas in Houston regarding possible criminal charges.

United States Attorney
Southern District of New York
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
THURSDAY, AUGUST 24, 2006 CONTACT: U.S. ATTORNEY'S OFFICE
"U.S. ARRESTS PROVIDER OF HIZBALLAH TV IN NEW YORK AREA"
PRESS RELEWASE SNIPPET: "NEW YORK - Javed Iqbal, a.k.a. "John Iqbal," 42, of Staten Island, N.Y., has been arrested and charged with conspiring to violate the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA), U.S. Attorney Michael J. Garcia of the Southern District of New York and Assistant Director in Charge Mark Mershon of the New York Office of the FBI announced today. Specifically, the complaint alleges that through a company called HDTV Ltd. located in Brooklyn, Iqbal and others provided customers in the New York area with satellite broadcasts of al Manar, which is a television station owned and/or operated by Hizballah.
The Department of Treasury named al Manar as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist entity in March 2006, thereby making it a crime to, among other things, engage in business transactions with al Manar. In conjunction with the arrest, agents executed search warrants at both HDTV's Brooklyn office and Iqbal's Staten Island residence where, it is alleged, Iqbal maintained several satellite dishes."
Lots of "gee, I vaguely remember that" historical and technical information.
That's interesting.
Thanks backhoe.
I don't think you forget anything.

I didn't see one word of this in the news here.
That is a lot of bang. Too large for construction purposes, such as underground work - significantly weakens the bedrock. I wonder what 'demolition' projects they could be refering to? Even the open pit copper mine in my home town doesn't trigger a 2.3 when blasting.
