NBC reporter Richard Engel sure has some severely selective sources. On the one hand, he's overflowing with information reinforcing the image of Hezbollah as a kindly humanitarian organization that was providing "supplies and relief" to the residents of Qana. On the other hand, he has "no evidence" that Hezbollah was using Qana residents as human shields for purposes of launching rockets.
Engel reported live from Tyre in southern Lebanon during this afternoon's 'The Most' on MSNBC, with host Alison Stewart. Speaking of events in Qana, Engel claimed:
"I got no indication [the people of Qana] were being held against their will. Just the opposite, it seemed Hezbollah was helping these people, providing them with food and water. These were some of the [poorest] people in the town, those with money had already left. They were staying in this section of town because there was food and water. Hezbollah were giving them supplies and relief."
But when it came to allegations that Hezbollah had cynically exploited the situation, Engel-the-fount-of-knowledge suddenly dried up: "Whether they [Hezbollah] took advantage of that to launch a rocket, I don't know. We didn't see evidence of that."
No evidence, really? So Engel didn't see or at least hear of the video screened yesterday by the IDF showing rocket launches from Qana? Makes you wonder who Engel's sources are.
An odd aside: Stewart actually asked Engel whether in southern Lebanon he saw "any anti-American sentiment."
Responded Engel, palpably shocked by Stewart's naivete: "Clearly. Everyone we came up to was expressing that sentiment very clearly. They were saying that it is American weapons that are being dropped on these villages and they believe that the US and Israel [are working] hand in hand."
Hope so.
If I didn't make it clear, that is what I think as well.
Fred, how can we get the staged photo'journalism' at Qana to the big guys? This point needs tipping. Today.
Yesterday, I turned on CNN just to see how they were covering this story.
During their story, they interviewed two different adult males of fighting age who stated to the effect "We told them to leave, but they were poor and could not". They were not identified as Hezbollah, but it was odd that both guys used the term "they" to refer to the civilians.
What the reporter did not say, was "Well, if you are Hezbollah (likely) and knew they could not leave, why did you choose to fire rockets from alongside their shelter?????"
I cynically believe Hez/Hizbollah WAS providing food and water for those poor folk. What better way to have fodder for Al-Jazeera, than to bring them all into the target zone? I'll bet it has happened more than once, and will happen again.
The roads to Qada were open, yet they didn't flee for 8 hours after the strike because they were "terrified?"
I'd roll my eyes, but it would hurt too much.
Robin Hezbollah and his Merry Men in the Lebanese Greenwood - versus the Evil Sheriff of Jewingham.

They were the poorest in town, they were staying because of the food and water Hezb'ullah was giving them...
Connect the dots.
I'm also surprised that there were NO SURVIVORS, not one?
but there was a WHOLE bunch of Hez-Ebola there being all nice and peaceful like

Those that remain are either staying because they support Hezbollah, are part of Hezbollah, or because they simply do not have the ability to leave.
For those that are unable to leave, which this reporter feels are the majority of those remaining, what do you think their life expectancy would be if they were seen talking to a reporter about how Hezbollah is to blame for the violence and for innocents being killed?
Hezbollah is the closest thing to the law in that area. They have so little respect for the people of Lebanon that they use them as shields as the attack a far superior foe.
If these people spoke out against Hezbollah, they would be killed and their deaths would be blamed on Israel. The local officials who remain are part of Hezbollah, so they would report them as having been killed by Israelis.
Of course these people say they support Hezbollah, to do otherwise is a death sentence.
The village of Qana -- where Hezbollah turned slaughter into whine.
I get the impression that the MSM considers the good they are doing to include killing Jews.
Yeah, I guess they figured Israel didn't have enough ball bearings so they loaded them into their rockets and sent them over. How very thoughtful.
May I be the first to use the term "Hezbullywood"?
And no men found among the dead. Just women and children.
Excellent point...
I have forwarded the link to the story about the Canadian/Lebanese family with images - and the comparison photographs of the dead children of Canan - to the editor of a conservative Israeli website.

Great! Good for you Fred - I hope this story takes a turn, quickly.
I'll remember my Aussie FRiend who did their part to get the ball rolling and send you a crate of stubbies. ;o)
Our media is beyond despicable.
