Tim waved his appealsI may be remembering this entirely wrong, but haven't there been cases where the kumbaya crew has appealed a death penalty verdict without the cooperation/consent of the convict?
Or did I just see it on TV?

Even if it's death he's still not gonna die for 20 years.......... dead and buried in 8 years or less.

Yes. I don't know how that works or the particulars of the McVeigh case. I do know that both sides wanted to expediate the date with death.

I hope he is toast.
Believe me, this piece of crap would only 'attain maryterdom' if he chooses to blow himself up (in a plane or whatever). Us putting him to death is not giving him that 'pleasure'. We have the control as to whether he lives or dies, not him. Our time, our choosing.
That negates 'marytrdom' in my book. And only the extremists muslims will think otherwise..and who cares what they think?

Too many "black Muslims" in general jail population that will protect him.

The amount of time it took the jury to decide is troubling. I wouldn't be surprised if he is spared.
I'm with you...last month I wrapped up being an alternate on a three week trial; got sent home to stand by for the possibility of a callback during deliberations.
By day three of deliberations, I knew - having of course heard every second of testimony, but not one word of the juror arguments - that there had to be at least one sympathetic holdout. I was right; I finally got the call from the court clerk that it was a hung jury.

Is there any way to sentence him to a lifetime of being punched in the face... hard?

Does the life or death decision by this jury have to be unanimous?

Rather than looking forward to a glorious martyrdom, being a celebrated hero in all of islomonazistan, and 72 virgins, he gets to slowly rot in jail, and die humbly pretty much forgotten, and entirely more time as Bubba's bitch than he ever could sit still (or even down) for...

The amount of time it took the jury to decide is troubling. I wouldn't be surprised if he is spared. The talking heads are saying that also...however, they are also saying: its 42 pages long and this IS a thorough, deliberate panel.

He is no martyr. Never will be. I think argument is something that osama types come up with to keep their captured alive.
Seriously, I think the martyr status is way over rated.
When dead he is a martyr for the side of rule of law.
See *this* guy? When you do the things he did you die. End of story. See what I mean?
