the wait, about an hour, allows all necessary parties to be there .. attorneys for both sides in particular. The attorneys get a call at their offices and are told to be at the courthouse for the reading of the verdict.

Let him rot in solitary for the rest of his natural life. Then he becomes an object for other terrorists. How many unknown cells will begin demanding his release or else this or that city will explode?

"Why did it take so long to reach a verdict??"
Could be confusion why M pleaded guilty to a crime he didn't commit.
Or don't want to give the Government a victory in its absurd scapegoating of M for all their own failures.

POST YOUR PREDICTIONS!I bet he gets life...I think the jury might be a little scared, afraid to anger the Islamofacists who might take revenge.

I agree.
But we both know that general population won't be happening anytime soon.
He'll be put in solitary confinement, get to read the Koran all friggin' day and will get halal meals.
If we really wanted to make this a-hole's life miserable, they should take away his Koran.
Take a look at the prisoners in Gitmo. They get spiritual sustenance from the Koran. It gives them the energy to throw urine on our guards, sometimes attack them and act in an uncooperative manner.
Take away the Koran. Take away the halal meals. Then we'll see what happens. I'll be it won't be pretty for them.

Let him rot in solitary for the rest of his natural life.
Are you willing to pay that (about) 35 grand per year to make that happen? Remember now that is for the rest of his life as you requested.

Even if it's death he's still not gonna die for 20 years.. Would it be that long? Unlike with many death sentences where the perp can scam the state courts and then move on to the Federal courts, this knuckledragger only has the Federal courts.
And remember that it didn't take long for them to put McVeigh down.

Even if it's death he's still not gonna die for 20 years ..........I think it's faster in federal cases?

Many said the same thing about a guy named 'Tim' also. That is a good point that I hadn't considered. Given the glacial pace of the death penalty in most cases, the feds practically tripped over themselves to kill McVeigh.
Why was that?
Because this was a federal case, as opposed to the more typical state death penalty cases?
Because McVeigh chose not to appeal? Did he not appeal, and haven't there been other death row inmates on whose behalf appeals were filed essentially against their will?
Because McVeigh had been tarred as a right wing militia type?
You've raised a good point, and I'm curious now.

Keeping him alive leaves a "prisoner" they can demand be released in exchange for hostages.

Let him rot in solitary for the rest of his natural life. After a LOT of pondering, I agree with you. He WANTS to die. All the more reason to leave him alive. Alone. In solitairy.

I heard that when deliberations were extended, the prosecutors were looking pretty bummed out.
I dunno.
