05/01/06

Posted on 04/30/2006 9:38:02 PM PDT by Heartofsong83

This should be a list of who is planning to close their business on Monday, May 1 in response of the Great American Boycott. We should compile it and boycott them ourselves if possible!

Remember to go shopping or work overtime on May 1!

Have they had any trouble with previous rallies?

I'm thinking LA and based on what I read on Malkin's site, I think that if anything major happens in LA it will spread like wildfire.

Ironic isn't it?

We are only one of two countries that does not acknowledge it but this is taking place in our country as we speak

It is true that IBP is owned by Tyson, however, that has only been true for about 18 months. The change istigated by IBP in hiring policies occured in the 70s.

I can agree with your point about anyone hiring illegals. The plant closings on the other hand are a neccessity as nobody can run a plant without 60% of their workforce, legal or not.

Speaking from experience here as we have tried several times to accomplish it during strikes and it flat doesn't work.

We do other things, too. LOL! Actually, even though they hit each other with sticks, I know a lot of people who actually put some study into the real weaponry. I have been learning fencing and costuming. Pretty much, if it has something to do with the Middle Ages (except getting the plague), we do it. It's like re-enacting the Middle Ages, with a few modern conveniences. LOL! It is fun, though, and gets the children to study more history.

I see LA a lot more leftist and prone to violence than Denver.

I'll wager you a Coors light, if anything happens, it'll be LA. ;-)

The pic is from a Left wing website and you're right, it has nothing to do with his position on border security.

ICK! Where'd you get that?

That image came from a video the GOP/RNC did for 2004 election. The video was primarily shown in Hispanic communitities. [Wonder why?]

Nationwide immigrant rallies under way

Some big businesses were shutting down operations: Eight of 14 Perdue Farms plants will close; Gallo Wines in Sonoma, Calif., was giving its 150 employees the day off; Tyson Foods Inc., the world's largest meat producer, planned to shut five of its nine beef plants and four of six pork plants.

Lamm places a large share of the blame on American businesses.

And where it needs to be. The politicians and business owners share the blame equally.

The sun is beginning to break through the haze here in downtown L.A. -- it is going to be a warm but relatively humid day.

No matter what is said to deny it, Bush's position has always been strong border enforcement, but coupled with a stick and carrot approach to those already here, some of them for more than twenty years.

It seems to me that all of you have completely lost perspective on this issue, and are lashing out willynilly and anyone and anything that stands in the way of a mishmash of impossible if not nonsensical approachs to the problem, You do this at the risk of losing all of the political gains we have worked for during the past twenty or so years.

I pity those who worked so hard, only to have a self described conservative group, which is really only a rabble of stupid activists IMO, destroy the entire thing.

But........so it goes. Payback will be a real eye opener for some.
