Pennsylvania State University has cancelled an art exhibition about terrorism and the destruction of Jewish historical and religious sites claiming it "did not promote cultural diversity."
The ten-piece exhibit, by student Josh Stulman, was the result of years of preparation. It was called "Portraits of Terror" and focused on images of Palestinian terrorism, hate-propaganda cartoons printed in PA newspapers and photos of Jewish holy sites destroyed by Muslims.
Just three days before the exhibition was to take place, Stulman received an email from the School of Visual Arts saying that his exhibit on images of terrorism "did not promote cultural diversity" or "opportunities for democratic dialogue" and the display would be cancelled, according to the PSU Collegian newspaper.
"I'm being censored," Stulman told the paper, "and the reason for censoring me doesn't make sense."
The school's director, Charles Garoian responded by saying the images "did not mesh with the university's educational mission." He said the decision was made after reviewing the university's Policy on "Nondiscrimination and Harassment and Penn State's Zero Tolerance Policy for Hate."
The exhibit was sponsored by the Penn State Hillel, according to Stulman, and is aimed at creating awareness on campus about the senselessness of terrorism. Hillel regularly sponsors art exhibits by Jewish students, dealing with Jewish and Israeli themes, as well as secular themes.
Stulman said that the director of the school has refused to meet with him and told the Collegian that advertisements for the event were defaced, with at least one sporting a large swastika that someone had drawn on it.

"Of course exhibits that show art like crucifixes in urine and madonnas with elephant dung are perfectly acceptable and should be government-funded."

How 'bout a 9/11 photo exhibit? (with a couple of pictures from Paterson, NJ, or maybe the A-rab sections of Jerusalem)

I am currently residing in FR Siberia for being less than frothing at the mouth during open season on Mexicans Month. I am also a Conservative Catholic in every sense, IMHO, you are, at best, a bold bender of the truth. I have yet to see a racist statement against hispanics on this forum. Most people I associate with are hispanic. I challenge you to repost a single racist post made herein. The issue of illegal immigration is not, nor has it ever been "open season" on any minority.
If you fail to accept my challenge, why not buzz off?

Its been censored because liberal academia will side with enemy ideologies (a.k.a. ISLAM), before anything else.

As a (huge) taxpayer in Pennsylvania whose dollars support this university, as well as a Jewish-born relative of Holocaust survivors, I am beyond outraged by this. Be assured that I will write my state legislators and local newspaper about it.

Penn State surely wouldn't like Michael Savage's web site.

I just read your nasty little FRmail. Just who do you think you are?
>>>Most people I associate with are hispanic.<<<
Is that anything like, "Some of my best friends are blacks"? Sorry, not buying.
>>>If you fail to accept my challenge...<<<
Or what? Pistols at dawn? Are you kidding me with this?
>>>...why not buzz off?<<<
OK, let me see if I have this right. You don't agree with what I wrote, so I should just disappear? Don't stand on one foot waiting for that to happen.
And the Grandaddy of all your nonsensical statements:
>>>I have yet to see a racist statement against hispanics on this forum.<<<
C'mon now, even Helen Keller wasn't that blind!
Our brief time together is now over. I wish you well as you enter the 8th grade, and hope that one day you will grow up to be a gentleman who is strong enough to be good enough to be kind enough. And always remember, gentlemen don't pick on ladies!

Wonder if they allow exhibits on slavery? Seems Universities only allow negative images of whites - all others are protected species.

I am going to contact the Universtiy about this. This angers me.
I'm sure there are students at Penn State willing to present the opposite point of view if they so choose.

How utterly repugnant! This is worse than anything that has been done at my alma mater, Columbia. Columbia may have idological teachers, and accept illegal contributions from the Saudis, but it is not censoring presentation of terror from the Israeli victims's perspective.

Did you even read my post? More hate, filth, and racism refers back to the emails up at Michele Malkin's site in regard to her piece on the UCSC incident. Sometimes, reading comprehension is worth more than gold...
I never feel the need to cry like a child, so why would I alert anyone? I was visiting Sanity Island yesterday, and even lovely FR'r snugs commented sadly on the tone of late.
You might want to take a look at what she wrote, as snugs has far more credibility here than I do, but I do agree with her wholeheartedly.

Seems to me that even Jews should be able to have an opinion and express it. We live in a totalitarian order where all animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others.

I wish you well as you enter the 8th gradeKids, and any others reading this exchange, do you see what happened? I challenged a poster, (apparently a woman although there was no way of knowing, nor does it matter) to provide an example or examples of racism on free republic. She did everything humanly possible to divert the question, including insults, and refused to answer the question. Now it is my turn to let loose with a return invective, having exposed the lies of ickybabble: babble, you are a lying scumbag in defaming freerepublic as a site of racists posts.
