Immigration Officials Raid Evendale Business
Federal immigration agents and local police raided an Evendale business Wednesday and arrested more than 30 people.
The raid happened at IFCO Systems on Evendale Drive in Evendale and police say they were looking for illegal immigrants.
After about an hour, agents left escorting two white vans but they declined to say who or how many people are in their custody.
A spokesperson for Immigrations and Customs Enforcement only released this statments:
"Today's arrests and detentions are part of an ongoing Immigration and Customs Enforcement worksite enforcement investigation. Because the enforcement actions are ongoing, we are unable to provide further details at this time."
The local division buys and sells pallets, but the company as a whole does business worldwide and is considered a market leader
I hope this is not a publicity stunt, and represents a change by the administration to listen to the voice of the constituents.
But I'm not holding my breath.
Cheers!
Sounds like a good start, now they have to keep it up. A lot of business owners are probably a little bit nervous right now.
Well. Isn't this placating? We can all fall back to sleep now. /sarc
IFCO Systems can manage all of your pallet needs
IFCO SYSTEMS is an international logistics service provider with more than 150 locations worldwide. IFCO SYSTEMS operates a pool of more than 87 million Reusable Plastic Containers (RPCs) globally, which are used primarily to transport fresh produce from producers to leading grocery retailers. In the United States, IFCO SYSTEMS also provides a national network of pallet management services. With more than 60 million wooden pallets recycled annually, IFCO SYSTEMS is the market leader in this industry. In 2005, IFCO SYSTEMS generated revenues of $576 million. IFCO SYSTEMS is listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange in the Prime Standard segment (IFE1).
Lets hope they keep up the raids and the pressure....a lot of illegals would then be losing their jobs!
Similar bust in El Paso, Texas today.

They busted the Columbus, Ohio location too.
It's either a publicity stunt or the company owes taxes.
Actually, the administration need say nothing about this at all. Just let a few more of these raids hit the press and the national media will pick it up. When the administration is questioned, their response: we cannot comment about ongoing investigations.
Then the media will be sensitized and every single raid will get coverage. The effect will be better than actual attempts to deport 10 million. The word will spread south of the border and the influx will slow.
Cheaper than a fence.
Springdale, Arkansas would lose half of their population if they raided the Tyson plants there and hauled off all the illegals and locked up the Tyson executives responsible for bringing them in. After that they can hit Pilgrim's Pride.
If they would do lots more high profile raids like this and lock up some big wigs instead of meaningless "fines" I believe we would see some results. One raid every six months isn't going to cut it.
Right now the current fine a business faces for hiring an illegal alien is only $250 per illegal hired. So let's say a business saves $10,000 per year per illegal in reduced payroll and IF by some freak accident they get caught they pay a measly $250 fine. Hmm, I wonder which option many businesses would choose?
Start charging $10,000 per illegal hired and throwing some executives in jail and you would dry up the demand bigtime. Of course, when we have many spineless jellyfish for Republican leaders in Congress it's almost hopeless. Harry Reid is running the Senate right now, not Frist. They would rather pander to the business lobbyists and latino voters than stand up for the American culture and laws. The Pubs are going to get killed in November.

Dems are seething - they just lost 30 votes.
So what we have here is an international company that does "shipping containers" who seem to be aiding illegals. Wonder if they are responsible for smuggling illegals into the country as well.
Actually it did hit the news. My hubbie told me he saw the story.
If they do some serious raids like this in Dallas, there are whole neighborhoods in the city of Dallas that would become ghost towns from all the illegals running away.
And, oh yeah, there will no longer be parking problems at Home Depot.
3 executives of the company?
I think I feel a slight ray of hope for our government!
Do you suppose they're getting worried that if they don't START doing their jobs, we're gonna fire 'em? Or, do they now realize that the citizens WANT them to do their jobs?
