Michelle Malkin: WELCOME TO RECONQUISTA!

WELCOME TO RECONQUISTA
***scroll for updates...Bush warns against stoking anti-immigrant feelings. Wants a "civil debate." Video here...Ok. Tell that to the divisive militants below...***

As Mickey Kaus points out, the reporters at the Los Angeles Times (and all other major media, for that matter) have downplayed the radical ethnic separatism that characterized the pro-illegal immigration rallies over the weekend. While the Times misleadingly asserted that the Los Angeles rally "featured more American flags than those from any other country," its reporters conveniently ignored marchers with extremist signs and banners advocating America-undermining concepts of reconquista and Aztlan:

aztlan.jpg

aztlan004.jpg

aztlan002.jpg

aztlan003.jpg

aztlan005.jpg

aztlan006.jpg

And does anyone remember this billboard from last year?

losangelesmex.jpg

These sentiments, as I've noted before, are not limited to ethnic fringe groups--but also mainstream Democrat politicians and campus chapters of the Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan, or MEChA.

Most of the members of the open-borders media won't dare breathe a word about this militant phenomenon, lest they be accused of...racism. Oh, the irony.

Welcome to reconquista.

Where are all the assimilationists now?

Another one:

Can you image the uproar over someone holding up a sign that read "White is Beautiful?"

Tammy Bruce noted on FOX News this morning that American flags were burned at the LA rally and marchers also held signs of the North American continent with America x'ed out.

Who's organizing the illegal alien rallies? Lonewacko investigates the role of a former Mexican consul in Georgia.

Flashback: Heather Mac Donald's November 2005 exposé of the expanding political role of Mexico's consular offices in the U.S. is must-read and must-re-read.

Flashback: Lawrence Auster outlines The Second Mexican War.

Mark Krikorian sees something I've been noting myself lately--an analogy between the reconquista movement in the U.S. and Europe's dhimmification.

Another similarity between the reconquistas and the jihadists: hatred of Jews--and people married to Jews.

Tom Tancredo is not afraid of the demonizers.

Yahoo! coverage of the immigration debate.

Bryan Preston has a proposal.

Have you heard about the "rent-a-family" scheme?

Patterico defuses hysteria over the House-passed proposal to make illegal immigration and illegal presence felony crimes.

No, the real hyperbole is being exhibited in the photographs by this Aztlan/La Raza crowd that has somehow been convinced that the old empire of Tenochtitlan extended all the way up into modern-day America, when it's basically myth that isn't supported by any kind of real evidence at all.

The only thing I can think of is that the Mexican government and ruling classes must be brainwashing the younger generations at an early age in order to breed resentment and make it easier to unload their poorer classes on us.

While America isn't 100% blameless in our historical troubled relations with Mexico, anyone who thinks this "La Raza" crap isn't going to be a problem for us really isn't paying attention.

Let em have it....it'll teach them...
Because we will: Close the all the military bases taking those jobs.
Stop all federal funding.
Businesses will relocate...they will be an economic wreck....

Then what?

And some folks thought I was kidding when I said the land-grab in Kosovo would only serve to inspire those who dream of taking "Aztlan" from the United States!

I wasn't joking then and I'm not joking now!

Now that the complacent politicians have allowed these people in

The real blame goes to your fellow Americans who hire them. No demand for illegal workers, no supply.

"...I guess the Reconquista was good, heroic and justifiable when Christians reclaimed their lands by throwing Muslims out of Europe, but bad now."

Yes, in Spain it involved centuries of fierce warfare. Here it involves going to sleep and not minding our border.

I love El Salvador but that does not mean that I want millions more of them to come here. Mexicans too cannot expect to see a welcome mat when millions come to promote Mexico and continue to be Mexican.

I say make it a real border and cut the flood to a trickle.

The Spanish became the strongest country of the World from 1492 to 1588 due to the competitiveness learned during the reconquest. Mexico is weak and only further weakening the United States by providing more votes for unworkable socialism.

"Mexican government and ruling classes must be brainwashing the younger generations"

The only people that believe in the Aztlan crap are the uneducated masses of illegals. The educated rich in Mexico want the extra poor out of the country to "reclaim" their birthright.

Imagine how good the American economy would be if 20 million American poor moved to Canada, sent back money, and no longer were a drain on our economy. We would have the largest boom in history.

We do not need 80 million more Mexicans on welfare.

I drive by the meskin consulate quite a bit because it's right on a major freeway. Today they had the buzzard flag flying high from the rooftop, way above the elevated freeway. I hadn't noticed them flying it there before.

They also threw the Jews out too. The Inquisition got going after that.

As long as you call what these illegals are doing a "reconquista", you are giving it gravitas.

Call it what it is...illegal border jumping.

I don't see where this is exaggerated, and from what I can tell, it is meant to be taken literally. I am just curious, what did you mean by your post?

I do think it is exaggerated. IMO, Ms. Malkin thinks that everyone with the surname Hernandez(etc.) is a rabid leftist and/or che gueverra supporter, which is obviously not true, but what the hey the hyperbole Ms. malkin markets has an audience and the rabid leftists know that also and play it to the hilt.

No, it was mostly because of the gold and silver pillaged out of South America. Precious metals can do wonders for your economy, a fact not lost on Queen Elizabeth I who happily sicced her pirates on Spanish galleons. The Moorish kingdoms were already fractured and weak way before 1492. The fall of Granada in that same year was just the final stroke.

Give the French Canadians the northeast, give the Mexicans the south and northwest and Red State America will go on thriving.

The illegal population has grown to more than 11.5 million nationwide, according to estimates by the Pew Hispanic Center, a research group in Washington. In Florida, the number more than tripled from 240,000 in 1990 to 885,000 in 2004, the group estimates.

No, it wasn't. The Spanish lost a lot of educated and talented people, not only Jews but Muslims as well.
