Help Stop The Attack On Your Rights!!!

The City of Calabasas in an over whelming attempt to stamp out what they feel is an unwanted part of their community has passed a law banning smoking from public places. Not only banning but making it a misdemeanor punishable by up to $1000 fine and/or six months in jail. That is not all if you witness a smoker in the act and don't report them you are guilty of aiding and abiding which holds the same punishment regardless of how you feel about smoking.

Calabasas using its own unique judgment has inacted a law that not only bans smoking but also bans your freedoms, freedoms of choice, the pursuit of happiness and other. Utilizing this law to attack and scapegoat a percentage of its population it deems unfit. Calabasas has chosen to treat smokers as a pariah much in the same way people viewed immigrants coming into this country. These people are not Terrorist they are not attacking or even harming those around you as some may say. If cigarette smoking was the reason behind this why did Calabasas simply ban the sale of tobacco and tobacco related products. They know they can't they feel if they attack the people and try to prove to people it is in their best interest. If Calabasas is so worried about the health and welfare of its people why do they still allow cars and big rigs into their town?

We ask that all people residence of Calabasas and those traveling in and around Calasbasas to stand up for your rights and the rights of your neighbors. Stand up and protest this unlawful and blatant attack on you civil liberties. Boycott Calabasas now! Don't shop in the city of Calabasas.
Drive a little further down the road shop in Augora, Hidden Hills, or Woodland Hills. If these politicians think they can be an isolated city where your freedoms mean nothing showing them that you will not stand for this type of injustice. In the coming days we will also be organizing peaceful protest but this boycott will be the loudest and most meaningful
way to show your disgust to a community who has no interest in protecting the rights of its people.

We as Americans have the duty to defend those who are being persecuted unjustly by those in power. This kind of McCarthyism will no longer be tolerated by the American people. A people whose beliefs are tolerance and justice for all.

Your Civil Liberties Are Under Attack !

I'm very sorry for your losses ... but how do you explain the fact that my mother was born whole and healthy to a mother (my grandmother) who smoked incessantly even while she was pregnant ... my mother and uncle (who don't smoke) have never had respiratory problems though they were raised in a home where their mother smoked several packs a day ... that my grown nephew who was raised around two parents who smoke quite a lot has never indicated any sign of respiratory problems ... how do you explain those things? Or that my grandmother who smoked so heavily lived to be in her late 80s?

Cause and affect aren't always what they appear.

You could be speaking about the way "I" grew up as well.  Right down to the 86 year-old-grandmother who smoked 3 packs of unfiltered Camels a day and died of old age.

When my asthma begin to first show up I was on flight status in the Air Force. The flight surgeon ran allergy tests on me and I was allergic to tobacco. My two brothers are not allergic and both smoke (one has lung cancer). The flight surgeon conclusion in my medical records indicates that years of exposure to second hand smoke triggered an allergic reaction. My Mother stopped smoking when my Dad passed and she is still going strong in her late 80's. My Grandmother chewed snuff well into her 90's. My Grandfather raised tobacco in south Georgia and I cropped tobacco as a child. I will avoid cigarette smoke if I am allowed to by those who enjoy tobacco.

Conclusion by a military flight surgeon was the allergy developed due to long term exposure to cigarette smoke. Interestingly enough, cigar smoke does not seem to affect me unless it is in a very closed environment like a car. Don't think it is genetic because Grandma chewed snuff well into her 90's and Grandpa raised tobacco in south Georgia. He was second generation tobacco farmer.

So how do you explain that article I referred you to?  Or are you too stubborn to read it!

"That is not all if you witness a smoker in the act and don't report them you are guilty of aiding and abiding which holds the same punishment regardless of how you feel about smoking"

When will they learn? What we are doing is telling the truth, and fighting for EVERYONE'S rights. Look at the garbage I quoted above. If someone told me 18 years ago that this would come to pass, I would have said "you're nuts". They are attacking freedom of choice on every level, and all these people think it's okay. Well, it's NOT OKAY. We have been attacked for the use of a legal product. And we have those who say, " oh well, I don't like cigarettes anyway, so who cares". But, it is not stopping there. On every front they are picking up the pace on attacking free choice. The thread on cops in the bars is a good example. The thread on banning "junk" food in Illinois schools is another example. WAKE UP PEOPLE. You are almost living in a George Orwell novel now. Fools, fools, fools.

I guess freedom no longer frees you. Welcome to the peoples republik of amerika.

"Madness'
Yes, it is. It's madness when a very sizeable group of Americans think this is the proper thing to do.
It's madness when elected officials abuse power the way that they are.
It's madness when the truth is swept under the rug, along with common sense.
It's madness for liberty to be crushed and so many remain silent.
I could go on, and on, and on.

By the way, Happy St. Patty's Day!

Indian Casinos in the area are going to love it. They are not regulated by the same laws.

How do you explain the asthma attacks I get anytime I'm around cigarette smoke? I only get them around cigarettes, not other kinds of smoke. How do you explain the death of my sister at 36 from lung cancer when she never smoked a day in her life but lived for 22 years with my Mother and Father who both chain smoked (my Dad died a few years later from cancer). How do you explain this? I would just love to hear your explanation......

My ex-husband had parents who never smoked and he has asthma. I am sure that you have other triggers that either you do not know about or that you neglected to mention

Glad you posted this but I doubt that the folks who need to read it WILL read it.

I think all they are interested in is that they are right and to hell with reliable research.  So, in order not to blurry up their thinking about what has been drilled in them, they won't read the article for fear they might learn the truth.

Right?
