Reuters Additional Information
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Police at the U.S. Capitol arrested anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan on Tuesday, shortly before President Bush was to give his annual State of the Union speech, a police spokeswoman said.
The spokeswoman, Capitol Police Sgt. Kimberly Schneider, said she had no immediate details.
Sheehan had been invited to be a guest at the address to a joint session of Congress by U.S. Rep. Lynn Woolsey, a California Democrat.
Sheehan, who became a central figure for the U.S. anti-war movement after her soldier son Casey was killed in the Iraq war, won wide attention with an anti-war vigil outside Bush's Texas ranch.
CNN said Sheehan was arrested after unveiling a banner and was being held on Capitol Hill for about an hour, which would keep her away from the address, which was set to start at 9 p.m. EST.
Sheehan and other activists were arrested in September for protesting outside the White House without a permit, a misdemeanor that carriers a $50 fine.

A newsroom type shares notes:
This from Sgt. Kimberly Schneider of U-S Capitol Police.... Cindy Sheehan was arrested in the gallery of the house floor tonight and charged with demonstrating in the Capitol--a misdemeanor. ...Sgt. Schneider says she was wearing a T-shirt with a slogan on it and was asked to cover it up. Sheehan did not cover it up and she was arrested. ....She is being processed at Capital Police hd and is expected to be released at some point tonight. The misdemeanor charge carries one year in jail. .."
Should have shot her.
Who knows, maybe she'll make bail and Tubby Kennedy can drive her home!
Any pics of the frog walk?
Send her to Guantanamo!!
LOL!
Fox News just said that she was trying to unfurl a banner in her lap in the gallery, and the officers escorted her out in handcuffs, but she hadn't officially been arrested yet.
Rumor is she was given a guest ticket by Lynn Woolsey, out of California.
"Bush lied.....my son died.....eggs are fried....I wash with Tide.....zzzzzzzzzz."
Yes, McKinney won her seat back.
Also, when the standing ovations come and she doesn't stand. That never plays well.
It may still happen. Once word gets out of what she tried to do...................... you fill in the blank, I'm still laughing too hard.
sw
This is funny. She gets a free pass and shows her class right away.
I can hear her all day tomorrow.
"Bush had me arrested."
She'll never agree she broke the rules.
Most excellent news!
Now, we'll have to see what other PinkOs got inside...
She's baaaa-aaaack!
Seriously.
DUmmie Moonbat Thread on Cindy's arrest
Let me guess they believe that this arrest of the grieving mother will be the thing that will wake up the American people be final nail #34,626 in the coffin of the BFEE.
