Reuters Additional Information
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Police at the U.S. Capitol arrested anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan on Tuesday, shortly before President Bush was to give his annual State of the Union speech, a police spokeswoman said.
The spokeswoman, Capitol Police Sgt. Kimberly Schneider, said she had no immediate details.
Sheehan had been invited to be a guest at the address to a joint session of Congress by U.S. Rep. Lynn Woolsey, a California Democrat.
Sheehan, who became a central figure for the U.S. anti-war movement after her soldier son Casey was killed in the Iraq war, won wide attention with an anti-war vigil outside Bush's Texas ranch.
CNN said Sheehan was arrested after unveiling a banner and was being held on Capitol Hill for about an hour, which would keep her away from the address, which was set to start at 9 p.m. EST.
Sheehan and other activists were arrested in September for protesting outside the White House without a permit, a misdemeanor that carriers a $50 fine.

When you've already been arrested for trespassing at the White House, I suspect the capital police don't want you back near the president.

It IS being reported on CNN, so take that for what it's worth, but it sounds like the Capitol Hill Police were interested in finding her the minute they found out she was in town and going to attend the SOTU.Glad to see the Capitol Police recovered their nightstick dummy.

CNN, report said Capital police were told to be on the look out for her because they feared she would do something to disrupt the speech.

Did republicans ever invite Willy, Tripp or Jones? This seems even low for a democrat. Which congress critter was it that invited her?
