If JimRob, etc. approve this is the Live Thread for the Canadian General Election, on January 23rd, 2005.
We have a while to go before the returns start coming in, but I thought the thread needed to get up and running.
That did sound pretty nice, didn't it?
"God Bless Canada"
Thanks for the link Balk, cpac.ca is another site.
He said it again: God bless Canada!
Pray for us and our new government!
That'll get 'em,that "better good" line-it has a vague communistic ring that's like catnip to a lefty lib!
He also gave great prose to Quebec, Ontario, the East and the North. Also the great speech to our soldiers.
Middle Canada has taken over.
Shame on the urban pockets of Greater Toronto, Greater Montreal and the BC Coast...they'll be the losers here.
O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
It would have been great to have Preston Manning on the podium then, but that would have just made millions of liberal heads in eastern Canada explode. ;)
I suppose you have to let them have their little pettiness, after all we got control, hehe.
Thanks I thought so oh by the way like your quote by your name lol. Louisians folks have to explain that Quebec and Acadia are two different places and no Louisiana was not sttled by people from Quebec even thoug that area of the state called Acadian should give them a clue lol
Bring a tear to your eye, eh? Three words that just sound so, so great: Accountability, Tax Cuts!!
Thanks! Good Luck to the other countries facing elections in 2006...we're on the move!
Middle Canada has delivered...that being rural Quebec, rural Ontario, the Prairies, the BC Interior and portions of the Atlantic Provinces...
David Miller must be screaming, except for the three NDP candidates who got hard-earned victories in Toronto.
Congratulations to Duceppe and Layton on honest and strong campaigns as well. Also hats off to the 183 Conservative candidates who tried and failed. Some came close, others never had a prayer, but they all gave it their best. (That excludes Derek Zeisman, the criminal from BC Southern Interior).
Most of Louisiana was settled by Acadians from Nova Scotia. When the British took that area the locals were given the option of swearing allegiance to the British Crown or getting out; my branch of the family stayed but about half left, most of whom ended up in LA. Interesting, none of those who left went back to France.
How do you post comments on Free Dominion? Kind of a tough site to navigate!
It's great that he won, but this is not the majority victority that seemed possible late last week, he has to count on the Bloc and the NDP, which seems from what I understand is farther left than the liberal but not as left as the green.
He will end up with 124 or 125 seats out of 308, the Liberals fear and smear campaign didn't win the election but it got turnout up, they were expecting turnout to be high 50's and if that had happened the Conservatives might have won many more seats.
Heatseeker,
To the Liberals... Ciao baby!
True half my family have roots from Nova Scotia
Assuming you have a login/password (register home page on the right side), either start a thread in one of the forums, or go to "recent" at the top of the page and find threads there. Within a thread, to post a reply, go to the bottom of the page to the right side. You can't ping like you can in FR unfortunately. Your post will just go into the thread.
