If JimRob, etc. approve this is the Live Thread for the Canadian General Election, on January 23rd, 2005.
We have a while to go before the returns start coming in, but I thought the thread needed to get up and running.
Congratulations. Sincere congratulations.
Me too Mo. It's gonna be a minority but it's a START. The fact is the Liberals got BEAT!! Dirty tricks, back room deals, everything, STILL got beat. You will notice a BIG difference in our Countries relationships!! I'm so glad for that.
Thanks for all your help GS.
:-D
I must go watch PMPM speak to Canadians about values.
After that, I want to watch my new Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, address our nation.
I'll see you all tomorrow. Thanks again everyone!
I think this was just an trial balloon he was floating because he didn't know what the final results would be.
A BQ-CPC alliance would be interesting.
"9:39 - Right now I'd say that the Tories will wind up with about 25 more seats than the Liberals when all is said and done, maybe a couple less. Based on the polls done before the election, that's a better showing than I expected for the Liberals, but there is still no doubt that tonight has been a debacle for Martin and his party. How they could allow the Tories to outpoll them by such a wide margin in Quebec will be the big question of this election. The CPC has taken 36.3% share of the vote, about 5 points up on the Liberals, which is about where SES Research had the election."

ROFLMAO. There are few things funnier than watching Marxist-Leninists descend into madness.
Found it. London West.
My pleasure. :)
And not only that, but if I recall correctly (not that I know much about Canadian politics), about a decade or so ago, the Conservative Party almost disappeared, right? Quite a comeback.
Congratulations, Canada!
No. What happened is Ipsos' seat model sucks. Just like it did in 2004.
Yup!! I agree. Manitoba has always had a certain portion that is solidly NDP.
Yep! A great big congratulations.
Thanks ... I just wish Atlantic Canada would have pitched in more.
Not a big surprise, considering most of those Conservatives last time were barely elected.
IIRC, the old Progressive Conservatives dropped to two seats in 1993. That gave rise to the Western-based Reform Party.
They are not reliable.
The NDP has made gains in BC because the Conservatives put their big efforts into vote rich Ontario and Quebec.
BC has very few ridings but IMO the Conservatives took the province for granted.
The Liberals were no threat there but the NDP has a strong base of extreme left wingers, with many expat Americans and Euros.
There is good money in Canada and Europe in being an anti-American American.
Just ask Michael Moore.
Fahrenheit 911 was produced by Lions Gate Studio in North Vancouver.
