If JimRob, etc. approve this is the Live Thread for the Canadian General Election, on January 23rd, 2005.
We have a while to go before the returns start coming in, but I thought the thread needed to get up and running.
Yes. Wayne Gretsky's cousin (or was it uncle?) is losing in Windsor (I think).
Time to celebrate with some popcorn and beer!
Its fine that the Conservatives didn't do as well as predicted. Baby steps, here. You have to remember that 16 months ago, the Conservatives had no chance.
Congratulations to Prime Minister Harper!
Wonderful. I think there are more Canadians than the CBC wanted us to know who are really Conservative. The radical Libs through the CBC have been hoodwinking the Canadian population into thinking they were outnumbered by LIBS. Not true. Here is Canada's chance to take back their country from the malcontented degnerates who also want to drag this country down.
I think it was his uncle and he lost.
Remember the Polls don't lie, its the vote counters! Must have Diebold machines.
What is the difference between Parti Quebecois and Bloc Quebecois?
Is PQ the provincial wing for Quebec nationalists and BQ is their federal counterpart?
She's still a traitorous bitch!!
Agreed.
CBC just seemed to indicate that Anne McLellan has lost (!)
I would think the Bloc would team with the Conservatives in order to get what they can out of this government...oh, well. I'd just rather not have the NDP in the mix at all.
Got it! Thanks for your excellent exposition.
BC currently has a "right-wing" provincial government - the BC Liberals, which have no connection to the federal Liberal gangsters - and a lot of citizens here are thus pro-NDP (the provincial alternative to the BC Liberals).
??
If it weren't for the NDP, the Liberals would win majority governments with such boring regularity that nobody would even follow these election returns.
excerpt from American Spectator:
"...As a political consultant explained to me in Washington a few months ago before heading north to work for the Conservatives, the leaders of the Tories' prospective coalition partner, the separatist Bloc Quebecois, are willing to give Harper several years of rule (but expect lots of Tory reforms to exempt Quebec). The Conservative victory will be a real one, and not just for Harper and his party but for Canada, for North America, and for the world..."

Will that independent Quebecer work with the Tories? I think I heard that he is a conservative talks show host.
Yeah Wayne's uncle was running in London east, or west, but he has effectively lost
Honestly 10 Quebec ridings is amazing!!
Canadian Outrage:
where would you place the probability of Western Canadian sovereignty in the next... 20 yrs?
