Becker: Sam not an ideologue. Decides cases on the fact of the law, adheres to precedent.

Good testimony from the judge . . . Yeah, but the camera cut away before we could see how he blows his nose. Dems might take that up.
To: hershey
Yep, and they turned around and invested a good part of it into their pals.

Becker: I have been a judge for 35 years. I would be fairly viewed as centrist. Sam and I have agreed on all but a small percentage of cases.

Old Joe Kennedy was a bootlegger during prohibition. The family money came from illegal booze....and such a strong supporter of Adolph Hitler that FDR fired gangster Joe from his position of U.S.ambassader to England

I wish the guy would have responded "Of course not, Senator, because that would be stupid for a judicial nominee. If we thought he would let his politics effect his judgment, we would not rate him qualified"

And we all recall why John F. Kennedy was on the PT109 :-)

Seanator Leahy was kvetching about this on NPR yesterday, but most of the other sniveling rats on his side of the aisle echoed his specious argument.
They tried to make the case that having some of the most distinguished jurists in the nation testify on his behalf demonstrated how unqualified Judge Alito was.
What a bunch of turds.
To: syriacus
Anthony Scirica...Sam has deep and abiding respect for rule of law. Has hallmarks of an outstanding judge.

Becker: I have been a judge for 35 years. I would be fairly viewed as centrist. Sam and I have agreed on all but a small percentage of cases. 35 years, 1 week and 1 day. 1,050 cases, differed on 27 of them. Becker's testimony was powerful, but arguably biased as a peer and friend. It was good that he said he was limiting his testimony to objective fact (as much as one can in a case like this).
To: syriacus
Alito is getting absolutely star reviews by his fellow judges.
