Jolene Jonas, an Intel employee in Oregon, has been listing her company email (jolene.jonas@intel.com) on various webpages relating to the activities and transactions of the Oregon Democratic Party, as the contact email address.
While nothing should prevent an Intel employee from using her free time to pursue her political affiliations, use of company email address for this purpose should be expressly prohibited at Intel.
Are there any Intel Freepers here that can raise this issue within the company?
In addition to the State party webpage, she also lists her email address on the Columbia (Ore.) County Democratic Central committee webpage:

I don't see the problem.
It's not like this is government time and materials.
Many people use company stuff after hours or even during hours -- when you are putting in 60-80 hour weeks it isn't possible to separate "your" stuff from "company" stuff.
Most companies put this down as a perk and don't care so long as you aren't doing anything criminal.
As criminal as I think the DNC is, this is no big deal.
I wonder what kind of porn/spam filters Intel has....uhm...never mind. Forget I said anything.
Intel sucks. AMD chips have been eating their lunch for years. Can't wait to upgrade to the new 64-bit AMD chip.

Intel's new stuff, leading with Yonah, will be pretty good. AMD will still have the better tech, but the gap will be so close that it'll spur another performance battle in the next generation.
Ahh, competition. Gotta love it.
I don't see any major problems with this. It isn't even our problem. It is Intel's problem if they want to do anything about it.
Keep in mind that even if we do something that forces Intel to put a stop to it, the political activist in question will only switch to using another email address, and after all that effort and energy - nothing will have changed.
In fact, targeting this employee would only appear petty and won't help the conservative image.
Maybe it's time not to be so nice.
No it's okay, if the company doesn't like it they can say stop, but unless something really obscene or horrific is being associated with the email I think it's a little petty to complain to the company.
Political PositionsPolitical positions should be treated like other examples of possible conflicts of interest. An employee may not hold a political position that interferes with the proper performance of the employee's job at Intel. The employee will need to choose between the Intel role and a political position of that type. Any employee who wishes to take on a political position must first disclose this fact to his/her manager and must consult with Public Affairs to understand potential conflicts of interest in the political role given his/her Intel employment. To avoid confusion and the appearance of any conflict of interest, an Intel employee working in a political role must communicate clearly that he/she is not representing Intel or its views in his/her political capacity and that the views expressed are his/her own and not those of Intel.
Employee Postings on the Internet
Intel employees may choose, or be required by their jobs, to participate in public forums on the intranet, including USENET* news groups, Internet mailing lists and so on. Employees cannot represent Intel's corporate opinion in these forums unless they have been specifically asked to do so. To avoid confusion, employees should indicate in their postings that the views they express are their own and not those of Intel.
Employees should remember that, even with this disclaimer, they will be identified with Intel and that their network behavior reflects on Intel in a broader way. In addition, employees should never comment on confidential or internal company matters, and should never comment on pending legal actions involving Intel, its customers, or its suppliers. All comments should be well informed and within the employee's sphere of expertise. Further, if the posting affects others at Intel, those affected should be copied on the posting or be advised of it in advance.
In addition, any use of Intel's assets, including any email or other communications sent from an Intel account or Intel's computers, network and equipment are governed by the E-mail, Internet and Computer Use Guideline.
These guidelines are not meant to replace common sense. Network forums are powerful communication tools that must be used wisely.
I don't think there's a problem. In fact, if you make a political donation, you are required to report your employer, and then your employer is made public associated with your political opinion anyway. My employer was probably interested to find out I gave money to Tom McClintock :_)
That's it! Since Intel clearly endorses her activities, and because she obviously had permission from her manager (since that's the rule), I will be boycotting Intel!
</ sarcasm
I retired from a very large company just recently and I will assure you they would have a large problem with it.
Company email was used expressly for company business and if you had a problem with it, sorry.
I would bet this email address will vanish post haste from any website, DNC or RNC. Bank on it.
I know people at AT&T, former SBC, that use company property to promote, MoveOn.org , Democrats and anti-Republican activities.
Seriously though, misuse of a company asset is a classic example of the entitlement mentality inherent within the Democrat Party--'I want it, so I am entitled to it.'
Even if he/she is using company computer off of work hours, it and email storage are still a company asset. Good judgement would lead this person to use a free (google, yahoo, hotmail) email account to get the intel name off of his or her correspondence.
That may seem petty if it's just one odd employee but unless there is some method of tracking such usage, how would you determine whether or not there is a company policy promoting one political party.
