AgapePress) - An official with a pro-family group reports that a boycott campaign aimed at Target Stores nationwide has succeeded in attracting hundreds of thousands of consumers who say they intend to shop elsewhere during what is traditionally the busiest shopping weekend of the year.

On Friday (Nov. 18) the American Family Association (AFA) launched on online boycott campaign against Target, citing the retailer's decision to ban Salvation Army kettles from their store entrances as well as the use of "Merry Christmas" in their in-store promotions and retail advertising. By the following Monday, almost 300,000 individuals had "signed" an online petition indicating they planned to express their disapproval of that decision by avoiding Target Stores during the upcoming Thanksgiving weekend. At press time, that number had jumped to more than 340,000

Bottom line: Anyone who thinks "holiday trees" is acceptable- whether they are a Christian or not, whether they celebrate Christmas or not- has no testosterone. Period. :]

I guess our moto should be: the bitter hags and gay men shall inherit the earth.

In comparison Happy Holiday's looks small to me.

One of my favorite Christmas time movies is Holiday Inn. "Happy Holiday" is a song sung in the movie. Just thought I'd throw that in on this thread for kicks and grins.

Its the slippery slope theory. This isnt news to you right? Liberals are infamous for taking bits and pieces of your freedoms and liberities over time so it doesnt seem like your losing anything. We've gone from a country which protected innocent life to one that openly advocates murder of children and sex with children. We used to pride ourselves in protecting the family and now we serve to destroy it. The battle lines are drawn - we can not give to the libs anymore - there childish ways and racist tantrums are ignored and we need to wake up act like 'men' and fight for the principles the this country was founded on - most notably that this is a Christian nation. We are founded on Christian/Judeo laws and beliefs - its not just about the term Christmas but the meaning behind replacing it with a secular term like holiday. Think about it

"Screw them, their shareholders and the unions in bed with them"

Thank you. I am a share holder through my 401K with Target in which Target participates at a rate of 5% of my pay.

I will never understand the mean heartedness of certain "Christians" especially at a time of year that used to mean something. It used to be a time of love and cheer and good will toward ones fellow man.

Oh, and by the way, in an e-mail sent out to Target employees I was told that I am free to celebrate the season any way I like which includes wishing people a Merry Christmas when they shop at my store if I so desire.

Well, at least you give credible customer feedback about your shopping experience to us - have you ever said as much to the manager of your local Wal-Mart? The aisles at our local Wal-Mart are plenty wide.

I've never been annoyed by a Salvation Army bell ringer.

Just in case some folks think that the 'ringers' are homeless or beggars, last year my CPA was ringing outside a Walmart.
And no, he's well off.(and good)

Plus those bells give me headache.

Earplugs might do the trick? :-) Or some of this?

"They are a means to an end."

That pretty much sums it up doesnt it - is there anything that is worth fighting for you? Or perhaps you might just change your mind when it gets to hard for you? Man am I glad we dont have whimps like yourself actually fighting for our freedoms.

I suppose you love the child rapist and murderer huh?

The above remark was addressed to you and not BY you but since I do not communicate with the person who made the remark I will tell you.

It's exactly what Jesus preached. To love the sinner and hate the sin.

Realizing that not everybody on this forum is Christian that other religions may not believe that way. I choose to try to.

God bless him! Tell him his efforts are appreciated! (Maybe you'll want to show him this thread, perhaps?!)

The Mayor of my town rings the bells too. (He's a Republican by the way.)

It's not a political maneuver either since he has been doing it long before he thought about running for Mayor.

Our newspaper published something last week about the Yule tree. Someone wrote back commenting that they had heard of a Yule log, but not a Yule tree.

" I will never understand the mean heartedness of certain "Christians" especially at a time of year that used to mean something."

Oh you mean like the Nazi Christians that also thought that it was ok to murder innocent Jews by not saying anything? Yeah you make a real good point Christians should just keep quiet and let the abortionists, homosexuals and perverts continue to attack Christ and Christianity. Its working out pretty well dont you think? Cant we just all get along "except for those damn Christians" -- is this your motto? Perhaps you should start by reading the bible - Christians are not told to be quiet - and Chrisian love is not about overlooking evil.

"WRONG, it did last year, their sales for Christmas were way down"

No, you are wrong. Target sales were up significantly last year and I should know. I work for Target. It was Walmart's sales that were down because they did not participate in the huge Friday after Thanksgiving sales. They learned their lesson though and will be participating this year.

I do understand your concerns for the slippery slope. I see them as valid. I was just trying to point out that that, as you said, We are founded on Christian/Judeo laws and beliefs - its not just about the term Christmas but the meaning behind replacing it with a secular term like holiday. . To me, worrying about signs and retail ads seems secular. By worrying about the retailing of Christmas are we secularizing our own religion? When did we let a tree and shopping define Christmas? When we have to go into the world to find Christ we are lost.

Note: Not saying anyone is doing this, it was just a reflection on were we are putting our focus.

Prove it - dont just talk the talk - or is this all that you have - your opinion. Lets see scripture - are ready for this dabate - I thought not.

Liberals are infamous for taking bits and pieces of your freedoms and liberities over time so it doesnt seem like your losing anything.

Many of the "liberals" in Congress are really Communists in sheep's clothing, and have taken a page or two straight out of the CPUSA playbook.

What is the difference between Communism and Socialism?

Socialism, which we are advocates of, is a transitional stage between capitalism and communism, a stage where a change in production relations, social relations, and individual outlooks become solidified.
