TODAY, Californians are heading to the polls to vote on several major propositions that shall dramatically affect both the political and economic future of our state.
We are following the activity and will report the results.

The political pendulum swings back and forth. Nothing can change this. But we can make sure that when it swings left it does so for as short as possible and not as far.
Unfortunatly its a life long battle. The test is never over. We only lose if we give up, and we will never win if we do nothing. Keep fighting. Its our character. We do not scream the elections were stolen. We do not condescend the electorate. We do not name call. Let them do that.
We start planning the next battle.
I am proud of Arnold! He took the big risk and went for it. We all knew it was a gamble. But one that had to be taken. Lets not let it scare us from taking them on again.
And the Democrats in charge will praise the destruction as "rebellion against white Republican oppression."

I have not agreed with you before Hildy. Your views regarding Terri Schindler are so opposite of mine. On this issue though I am in complete agreement with you. I know many people who did not vote yesterday and I can't believe it. It was an important election for us conservatives. Even in my typically conservative county none of the propositions passed. I naively thought there was a sliver of hope for California, but I was wrong.

Nothing changed. It was a battle for the status quo. I wouldnt say it was a dive to the left. Simply the rock did not budge to the right.
And the unions are hurt financially big time. Yes Arnold is hurt politically, but he will bounce back in time. Thats his nature.
Its a chess game played out over decades unfortunately.
Mind boggling, and disturbing. Sitting on your hands doesn't change a thing as much as we would like it to be so. This is truly depressing.
You may be right, but in all likelihood the feds will simply put California on permanent relief. People in the other 49 states will then have to drag California along. The Democrats will surely support this, and so will the GOP (wrongly thinking that by doing so they'll have a chance to make a comeback there).
It's so sad. And today, Warren Beatty and his ilk are doing the Happy Dance and he's probably getting ready to run for office. Think about all the extreme left wingers now who will run for office now...and don't say they won't win...they will. Because we're all talk, no action. And for all you MCCLINTOCK COULD HAVE WON Freepers out there, I demand an apology.
They're more than welcome to secede ;). It would save the rest of us who care about someone other than ourselves.
Yes, that's for sure. What the heck was up with my fellow conservatives in this state? We were beat County for County when it came to turnouts!
I just cannot believe that something THIS important to the state couldn't stoke the fires of my fellow conservatives. It really sickens me.
When your taxes are raised, when new strange and wacky laws are passed (special taxes on crucifixes, and tax rebates for sex toys) don't complain unless you vote. Even if the odds are against you, you still have a fighting chance in this state if you can mobilize.
Hah - I can hardly pretend that was a typo, but I meant 1978 to 2003! I guess my brain is still trying to block out the Clinton years ...
There's a thread around here somewhere showing the Aztlan folks stating just that: the France riots could happen here ("hopeful").
I think the loss on parental notification was due to non-parents. San Francisco has fewer children per capita than any other major city. I don't know the stats on this, but I'd guess that a lot of coastal Northern California is like this. A lot of yuppies with no kids, or only one kid who's a boy, and like most yuppies they don't give a damn about the concerns of others.
Latinos likely turned out in small numbers, as minorities often do on these off-year elections. Arnold's reform initiatives brought the selfish element out in force (to vote "no" so as to protect their power and entitlements). Then there were the people who didn't understand the issue, so they voted "no" to be safe, people misled by the media and fraudulent Planned Parenthood advertising, etc.
This is one issue where there might be a future for the state. As the Latino population grows, they might eventually be able to outvote the elite white yuppies on this one.
How? Every election they drum up millions to support their own special brand of thuggery. This election has in no way harmed their financial outlook. Hell, the grocery strikes did more damage...and that was under Davis.
You see though you only have one chance to make a good first impression. Once they put this back on ballot again, it becomes easy to cry, "The voters already rejected this measure! Arnold (or substitute other Republican entity) is just trying to silence and destroy the poor teachers and fire fighters!".
It's going to become a terrible game to play. They won't have to raise as much money next go-around. Of course, if we were willing to fight it tooth and nail however then we might be able to pull some of their fangs. But we won't -- the CA Republican party is about as impotent in this state as the Libertarians are in others.

I would add that the attack on Christians will become more forceful in our schools and in our churches. It is a sad morning in California.
To the rest of the states, I say this, "We Conservatives will fight for our state until our last breath".
And the Tree of Liberty will be refreshed many times over...
