My Fellow FReepers,
As it now past midnight (well at least for those of us in Central Standard Time) and I did a general search and couldn't find a single thread dedicated to election 2005, I have taken the liberty of creating one.
THIS is the place to post all your updates and discussions on '05 races around the country. From the Boston Mayoral Race to the fight for Virginia Attorney General, keep the adrenaline flowing here.
Will the GOP make a midterm gubernatorial comeback after suffering through the 2001 "mistakes" of McGreeley and Mark Warner? Will Ahnuld, the CA Dummycrats, or independent minded conservatives emerge triumph in California's latest (but not greatest!) "special election"? Will the liberal incumbent crush his equally liberal challenger in New York? And do conservatives even care?
Let's get the discussion rolling folks. You heard it here first!
If you are saying I am a liberal, clearly the totality of my posts over sevral years (not several weeks) demonstrates that.
AP: Corzine Wins N.J. Governor's Race
Corzine seems to be running a bit better than Kerry, and more than a bit better in Bergen. Bush lost NJ by 6%. Forrester may lose by about 8%, as a wild first guess. The losing margin depends on relative turnout.
At least he won't be in the senate.
OHIO:
Y - N
Issue 1: 207K; 170K; 55-45
Issue 2: 167K; 281K; 37-63
Issue 3: 153K; 291K; 35-65
Issue 4: 136K; 304K; 31-69
Issue 5: 135K; 299K; 31-69
That's my state -- we worked like dogs for the last several weeks to make sure SOROS, et al, didn't gain control of the Ohio electoral process.
THIS IS THE IMPORTANT VICTORY TONIGHT -- If 2-5 had passed, we would NOT have been able to retain Ohio in the GOP column for 2008!!
"I don't get it. It looks like the republicans in Virginia won the Lt. Governor spot and the Attorney General. Who voted republican for AG and Lt. and voted for the Howard Dean of Virginia?"
Pretty simple explanation. Jerry Kilgore was not a very good candidate and ran a poor campaign. The GOP base wasn't very enthused about him and he lost.
The LT Governor race pitted a conservative against an avowed ultra-liberal; Virginia is a conservative state given it's druthers. The conservative won.
The AG race is actually the most interesting. Both candidates were fairly conservative (the Democrat actually got the NRA endorsement), both are competent men, and both ran competent campaigns. The vote is close.
The message looks pretty clear to me: send Virginians a solid, competent conservative who presents themself well, and Virginia voters will vote for him or her. The GOP label by itself just isn't enough to win an election.
C'mon. Rush, Hannity,Laura Ingrhama - all have expressed reservations lately about how well the political operation at the white house is doing.
Ignore jveritas. It is his MO. Just make unfounded allegations, because he can't discuss substance. If you disagree with him, you are a troll or disloyal. I worked for Bush's reelection incuding making contributions, working a poll worker, and a volunteer at the Inaugural Ball. I also always without fail predicted a victory because it was inconceivable that an incumbent wartime President could be defeated by the likes of a Kerry.
I saw a loon in my building wearing a Ferrer button the other day. I laughed at her out loud and said "now that takes guts to wear".
yeah, Bob Menendez will be now.
Amen. I doubt earle will have his job this time next year. HE is next on the agenda for Texas. His number has been due up for a LONG time. He picked a pissing constest with the WRONG MAN picking a fight with DeLay. I know Tom DeLay. He's a good man and earle signed his own pink slip taking his game this far.
This is exactly right. The only thing that happened tonight is that the Dems are face to face with the reality of the Soros left and the moderate agenda they need to win. The Republicans will learn more tonight than the Dems who are still left to agonize over a national platform and campaign funds.
Put THAT in CAPS and brand it on my forehead!
WE WON!
Kelly was a Democrat for Bush. Maybe he will come over to the right side. After all the Democrat Pary has left him.
New York State-Wide Proposals:
Proposal One:
An Amendment to the state constitution: Would you change the way the state adopts its annual budget?
YES 17% / NO 83%
Proposal Two:
A Proposition: Would you authorize borrowing $2.9 billion to upgrade the state's roads, bridges, subways, trains, buses, waterways, airports and other transportation systems?
NO 57% / YES 43%
no, I like jveritas. its OK really, I enjoy the debate so long as its not personal.
THAT won't be part of their spin. They are like former President of Ohio State E. Gordon Gee(k), who decliared a tie with Michigan "one of the greatest victories in the history of OSU."
That's funny. Democrats can't even win on their own liberal biased show. HAHA. 8) Stupid libs.
Some of his ads made me cringe when I watched or listened - lame beebop music and downright nasty. Thought I was watching the 4th grade class president promotions. I think that you are right on the death penalty ads.
Mental note: find out Kilgore's campaign advisers and never hire. for anything.
What's issue 1? I know issue 2-5 is the crap the libs tried to shove down your throat, but I haven't heard of issue 1.
