My Fellow FReepers,
As it now past midnight (well at least for those of us in Central Standard Time) and I did a general search and couldn't find a single thread dedicated to election 2005, I have taken the liberty of creating one.
THIS is the place to post all your updates and discussions on '05 races around the country. From the Boston Mayoral Race to the fight for Virginia Attorney General, keep the adrenaline flowing here.
Will the GOP make a midterm gubernatorial comeback after suffering through the 2001 "mistakes" of McGreeley and Mark Warner? Will Ahnuld, the CA Dummycrats, or independent minded conservatives emerge triumph in California's latest (but not greatest!) "special election"? Will the liberal incumbent crush his equally liberal challenger in New York? And do conservatives even care?
Let's get the discussion rolling folks. You heard it here first!
AW...jeeez.....Fred Barnes just said that BUSH dragged down Kilgore in Virgina...and should NOT have gone to campaign for Kilgore on Monday night...
I cannot believe that Fred Barnes said that....but, if it is true....this country is in TROUBLE....when a decent man like President Bush gets smeared so much that it is really gonna put socialists into office!!!
I am really mad, now!
Atleast Kaine will be out there all by himself; it looks like the Republicans won everything else. I don't get how that happens...but
I don't get it. It looks like the republicans in Virginia won the Lt. Governor spot and the Attorney General. Who voted republican for AG and Lt. and voted for the Howard Dean of Virginia?
Based on what, or do you just read negative Republican polls? The Democrats haven't made up ground that I have seen and tonight only shows us that they held their ground.
Good news about Ohio. :-)

Dang right!
My voting place, there were more people there to vote than in the last Presidential election!
(Come to think of it, the last Presidential election was never in doubt around here either...)
Please, Kilgore is an idiot. He should've never did the death penalty stuff.. It hardened the Democrat opposition to him and let Kaine grab the middle.
I know, it's goofy.
Imputing I am a dem or a liberal is silly and immature, given my longstanding membership and status on FR, particularly when you have been on FR less than 100 days.
Far less.
I agree it's been a bad time for Dems, especially after Alito was announced as the pick. The GOP base is back - it's time to win over some folks we have alienated along the way, though.
I was steadily predicting a 2-3% win for Bush in the popular vote. I never said Kerry would win, I criticized many aspects of the Bush campaign, but never said Kerry would win. I did poo-poo people who were saying Bush was going to win the popular vote by 8-10%.
WEll....according to Larry Sabato....Mark Warner (D) just beat Sen. George Allen (R) for POTUS in 2008!!!
I suggest the East and West just drop off the united states. We will keep the country going the RIGHT direction out here in Middle America.
The death penalty is a bad issue to run a partisan campaign on. I know many social conservatives who still oppose the death penalty, and that probably cost him some votes from otherwise pro-life, pro-family voters...
Sabato also predicted Kerry would beat Bush!
Live up to your name and verify that. It's untrue.
Sorry, no.
You may feel fine, but those that do not are not brainwashed. Easily rectified by more boldness from elected Republicans against attacks and on conservative issues. Should be grateful for that. It means this is easily turned around and Democrats have no control over it.
Don't let the small-minded get to you, you've been posting good stuff all night.
Many blame the messenger.
