Official Election Day 2005 Watch [Live Thread]
Shameless Vanity Post | November 8, 2005 | BillyBoy

Posted on 11/07/2005 11:46:41 PM PST by BillyBoy

My Fellow FReepers,

As it now past midnight (well at least for those of us in Central Standard Time) and I did a general search and couldn't find a single thread dedicated to election 2005, I have taken the liberty of creating one.

THIS is the place to post all your updates and discussions on '05 races around the country. From the Boston Mayoral Race to the fight for Virginia Attorney General, keep the adrenaline flowing here.

Will the GOP make a midterm gubernatorial comeback after suffering through the 2001 "mistakes" of McGreeley and Mark Warner? Will Ahnuld, the CA Dummycrats, or independent minded conservatives emerge triumph in California's latest (but not greatest!) "special election"? Will the liberal incumbent crush his equally liberal challenger in New York? And do conservatives even care?

Let's get the discussion rolling folks. You heard it here first!

Bloomberg has it in the bag. While I'm not a huge fan of him, at least he is keeping the real Dems in check there.

Will never understood the logic behind taking a double digit lead and then going negative.

Who exactly has the GOP alienated? That's bull. If anything, the GOP has been getting more vocal about being more conservative which some squishy ones will be uncomfortable with. Bush's poll numbers couldn't matter less. He's NOT up for re-election. Period. His poll numbers couldn't matter less. His making the right decisions on things DOES matter, and he's been doing that. I'm part of the GOP Base, been a Republican since I was 18 and felt the same the years before that as a teenager. And I didn't "go anywhere". The GOP base is far more ready for a fight and has been for along time then you give them credit for. The past four general elections prove that.

Dick Morris just said if Corzine wins he will make NJ a red state

I tend to agree ... If Corzine wins .. NJ is in trouble

FNC ALERT .. Predicts Corzine wins NJ

What I don't get is why he wasted $80 million on the race everyone knew he was going to win big.

Essentially Newt stated this wasn't a result of the President, but a bad campaign on Kilgore's part. Contradicting Fred's analysis.

"Hillary will get 95% of the african american vote anyway. why pick Obama, to get 98%?"

Wow, you just hit one out of the park!

The Dims won't EVER pick a black candidate, will they?
Not just to pick up that other 3 or 4% of the 12%, eh?

Bloomberg is keeping people who are to the left of Castro from taking over NYC.

As I always say, KKK Bryd has been in the Senate longer than anybody else but that doesn't make him any smarter, nor does it make me respect him anymore. :)

Can you name one credible well known conservative icon who is worried about Bush's poll numbers? Limbaugh, Hannity, Levin, anyone?

I said it earlier and I say it again -- the death penalty ads were suicide. Some here thought those ads would crush Kaine, but when one of the victim's fathers basically said Kaine would pardon Hitler, he cost Kilgore a pile of votes. The flip-flop commercial was also complete idiocy. Virginia may seem weird in its voting, but those canned crapola commercial simply don't work here. Kilgore should have known that.

In addition, Kilgore talked about how opposed he had been to Warner's tax increases, but when he actually talked about issues, it was plain he was promising to spend every penny of those increases and then some.

If you are saying I am a liberal, clearly the totality of my posts over sevral years (not several weeks) demonstrates that.

Isn't Kaine the winner? It's similiar to Obama "War is a choice but can never be the first choice.". Tell me what that means. Nothing. Someone tells me they are personally opposed to something but will enforce it? It tells me they lack principles but it sure do sound nice. Sounds nice, tastes great!
