Paris/France burns, Live thread (night #10)
Posted on 11/05/2005 9:39:59 AM PST by Dane
It is now getting dark in Paris and in all of France(appx. 6:40 PM Paris Time), and if there are any French FR lurkers(lurquers), this may be the thread to post your reports about any further violence.
It seems the French govt. is impotent in it's response to what seems are jihadist thugs and it seems the American media has put a news blackout filter to what is really happening, so as not to embarass their heroes, Chirac et al.
So any news reports or personal reports from what happens tonight are welcome, and don't worry about broken English, reports in French are welcome also, I have no doubt someone can translate.
I really dread putting up a live thread about such a matter, but it seems that the American MSM is following French govt. orders to play down to what it seems is an insurrection.

You may be correct. I thought I read somewhere today that Villepin was sliding in the polls due to the lack of action on his part and that Sarkozy was rising to fill the void. I can't quote a source but next time I see it, I'll make a note.

If he's an example of what most Iraqi's are like, the terrorists are screwed there and Iraq will be a great democracy.LOL! True enough. :)
Gotta log off--take care.

OK, I gotta' ask.... How do we know this is being done for the cause of Islam? Sure, I'm get the clear picture that these are Muslim youth scumbags, but why are they doing this? The primary cause could be racial, ethnic, economic, rather than the fact these rioters happen to be Muslim. Surely you jest.

If the rioters had been white supremists, CBS would have been sure to let everyone know that.

Oh My God!
I had one of these!
Bought it when I was a flaming liberal, 21 years old.
It was, you'll not be surprised, the WORST car in the universe. The oil dried up and the engine seized up while I was on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge!
My, my, my....there was none dumber than my younger self.

We should not get involved in this one. France already died. There is nothing left to save.
Not one drop of American Blood for France!
the French are Congenital Cowards and would sell their freedom for a sip of wine and some moldy cheese.
They Stabbed us in the back to profit from Saddam.
Now let it catch in their throats as they watch their country die before their eyes on TV.
Not one single drop of American blood for France.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Excellent precis of the current situation and why we're mad at France. You did leave out their refusal to allow American planes to fly over French soil when Reagan bombed Libya, thus forcing our pilots to fly a longer, more dangerous route and putting their lives at risk. This was an overt, in our face move on their part and Americans got very angry. Also Dominic Villepin's treatment of Sec. of State Powell at the UN before the Iraq war, he'd lied to Powell, then ran around the world bribing countries to vote against military action against Iraq.

France in particular, maintained there was nothing that temporizing and appeasement, in one form or another, could not solve. What events in France have done is discredit the liberal recipe so badly that even those who are not prepared to admit that American policy may have been right must now root around for an alternative theory. Fukuyama's essay is a good step in that direction. Faster please. From your link. Well said.

You are right. I don't trust the French. As soon as we help them, they will stab us in the back. Sorry Frenchies but good luck.

Dang, and that is just one bus depot in France, and there are many others according to blog reports.
Hope nagin or mary landrieu don't see that picture. May give them some ideas if another hurricane is coming their way.

The U.S. won't let France fall either because it has 350 nuclear warheads and a long range delivery capacity.
